“I don't love him!” She shouted, staring right into my eyes. “I love you, Xander!”

I wasn't surprised to hear her say she loved me. I knew she had feelings for me but I thought she loved him even more.

All I've ever done was try to get rid of her. He showed her the love and care she badly needed but she…doesn't love him?

My eyes narrowed to slits as my eyelids drew together.

“I don't know why my heart keeps longing for you!” I saw tears well up in her eyes, waiting for her next blink so they could escape.

This woman— the one who keeps me awake at night, who tamed me like her personal wild beast, loves me. “I don't know why my heart longs for you either,” I got lost in my own musings and in my mind was a whirlwind of conflicting feelings.

I moved even closer to her and she tried to move away from me. She got to the couch and because she didn't realize it was behind her, she fell into it.
