Chapter 8

Lucian entered his room and stared at the male for answers.David looked down before heaving out a sigh ,he did not want to tell anyone that he found his mate who apparently is a male which might become reason for the pack members to laugh.He trust Lucian but he is not ready to tell him yet.He needs time to process the appalling mate Bond reveal..

"I saw him coming out from Scarlett's room in the early morning..I just wanted to warn him to stay away from Luna" David explained the half truth.For him, it's better to speak half truth than a lie..

"They are close friends, that's it.If something happens between them then I would know but we have no right to behave like this especially when they are our guest.I won't let it slide the next time, David"

David nodded but Lucian didn't take his eyes off him knowing something is definitely bothering David yet he is not ready to share which is disheartening to Lucian since he is not only David's Alpha but a friend as well.

"How are you so sure that Scarlett is your mate?"

David's question left him perplexed.

"Because she is my mate ,I could feel the pull"

Taehyung shook his head while keeping his gaze at the window.

"Maybe it's just your human side which is attracted to Scarlett.."

"I could not feel her wolf because she didn't shifted like every other wolves but I could feel the sparks, they are stronger and you do know that Alpha feel the pull ten times stronger than other wolves.She is my mate and I could feel it just by her scent"

I faked a smile and walked downstairs where my Mom was waiting in the dining area.I turned 18 last night , father even throw a party so I could also find my mate.My parents were excited unlike me who was trying to sought out the mess because of complicated signals.Emy, she claimed to be my mate when I was near 15 or 16 and I did not give it a much thought because of the pull I felt.I dated her because of that only but it faded within span of time, I waited for my 18th birthday thinking I will feel the pull after my birthday.But it didn't happen , I finally figured out she isn't my mate.

I confronted her but she lied.I should've known when I felt nothing for her.I talked to my mother about it and she told me whatever I felt for Emy back then was just an infatuation which happens because of puberty.

Sighing , I greeted my mother and joined her for breakfast even though I don't have an appetite but my mom would be worried if I don't eat.

"Lucian , Don't lose hope.You will find your mate soon"

I nodded at her and smiled half heartedly because of the fact that my mate is not in this pack.Every she-wolf of this pack and our neighbor pack were present in the party but I didn't feel pull towards any of them.

After biding bye to mom, I walked out of the house and hoped in my car before driving away.

I groaned realising today our class and juniors are going on a school trip.I walked where students were lined up to hop in the School Bus.I joined them while ignoring Emy on the way.

The bus ride went with me staring out of the window.

I stepped down the bus and my wolf was alert sensing a very intoxicating scent.I looked around in search of her, my wolf tried to help me but I had to shut it because of humans here.

I had to shrug it off and get along with other students but I was relieved finding out whoever that scent belong to is one of the students.

Time skipped at night , I joined the circle of students after setting my camp and realized that scent is not strong anymore.

Maybe she is one of the juniors , their group is on the side, far away from us.I wish I could let my wolf take control to find her.

After playing some stupid games, we were to go into the woods to find some flags.I was paired to four human guys and Emy.Rolling my eyes, I walked ahead until we were deeper into the woods in search of the flag but find none.We lost track of time and the guys were drained out.

"I think we are lost" The guy behind me exclaimed in a panicked voice.

It's true that we are lost but I can find the way back to our teachers but these guys have some other plans.

"We should stay here and wait.Our teacher will find us"

"Yes ,we should wait"

I mentally cursed at them for not even trying to find the right route but I get their hesitancy.

We all sat against the trees ,Emy sat next to me and tried everything to get my attention but I turned deaf towards her.

After waiting for 10- 20 minutes,I sensed the same scent and looked around , we heard footsteps.

"See I told you they are gonna find us!" Max exclaimed happily.

I kept my attention towards the direction of the strong scent, a small figure compared to the boys and Emy, came in view.She hesitantly walked towards our direction and stared at us , a sigh of relief left her lips while I stared at her baffled.

Her eyes finally moved towards me....

Mate...

I controlled my wolf before it could jump on her..I can't believe it...out of every other she-wolf , Scarlett has to be my mate..

"Are you lost as well?" Max asked disappointed earning a small nod from Scarlett.

"Come sit with us" Max exclaimed pulling her to sit next to him.I suppressed myself to let out a growl.

She stayed quiet all the time and I couldn't take my eyes off her.Thousands of thoughts roam in my mind but I couldn't come up with any solution.She probably hates me and I'm trying to distant myself from her because I know my presence itself scares her.It's been four years since I stopped bothering her but I know she would never forgive me let alone accepting me as her mate..

I shut my eyes, trying to stop thinking all those things I've done to her..It only makes me feel terrible..Only if I wasn't a coward back then ,she would've been in my arms by now.

Emy kept poking my arm but I ignored her , if she continued bugging me like this then I might snap at her out of anger. Gladly she stopped after her all failed attempts, we didn't realized how much time passed and when I opened my eyes, they all were fast asleep.

I sigh before averting my eyes at Scarlett who is also asleep but judging from her expressions, I assume that she is uncomfortable. I slowly got up without making any noise and kneeled down to her level before placing my palm on her forehead.

Why is she so cold? It's not even that cold weather..She is literally freezing, I grew worried and looked around. Should I take her back to the camp? But what about them and what am I even going to say ? I looked at the guys who are sleeping peacefully, I can't leave them alone..

I sat next to Scarlett and carefully spooned her in my arms making sure to not wake her.Her head rest against my chest , while I moved the hairs from her face and tugged it behind her ear.

She snuggled even more closer to me before wrapping her arms around my torso. The approximity made my body heat up but I'm glad at least it will keep her warm .I could shift to provide her more warmth but that's going to scare the shit out of these humans next to us.

Scarlett is still underage and according to rules , I have to wait until she turns 18 and herself finds out I'm her mate. I don't know what's going to happen after that.. I'll respect her decision if she doesn't want me as her mate bcs that's the least I could do for her after the shits I've put her through.

I still hope ,she won't reject me but that would be too selfish of me. The thought of rejection pains me and my wolf but I can't force her to love me because of the mate Bond.

Maybe in future , Moon Goddess brings us together..

"Lucian.." I was brought out of my trance by David's voice.

"Is it possible for Moon Goddess to do mistake while making a mate for each wolf?"

"It's never Moon Goddess fault , if anyone is to blame then it's that person who couldn't be a better version of himself/herself to their mates. We can not blame others for the things we do , I've learned it in a hard way" Lucian replied before sitting next to David who seems lost in his thoughts.

"I'll go and get ready for the training" David said changing the topic which was Lucian's cue to not ask him anything now.

David stood next to Lucian while watching the pack members streching, out of all the males and females, his eyes stopped at Ex Beta's son who is streching aggravatingly.

"John is apparently weaker then other wolves, how? Doesn't he have blood of Beta"

"I don't believe in those , for me every werewolf is strong despite their rank.About John, it looks like he never trained himself so it's obvious for him to lose every fight"

Lucian exclaimed averting his eyes at John who was glaring at him, John looked away not able to hold eye contact with Lucian.

After Alpha's command, wolves split into two groups.

"Jackson and Mark"

They both entered the circle and take their positions.

"Shift only at my command and try to knock the opponent in your human form" Lucian exclaimed before signaling them to start.

Lucian and David watched their every move carefully.Jackson is strong and energetic but Mark is using techniques rather than his strength which is very smart of him but could also be his loss if Jackson got at least one opportunity to knock him.

But that quite didn't happen , Mark used his strength only at the golden opportunity and knocked down Jackson easily.

They got off the ground and faced the Alpha.

"Mark , using techniques and strength at the right time is your plus point but always make sure to not keep the same moves in a row.Once opponent figure out your fighting techniques, he can knock you out easily" Lucian turned to look at Jackson.

"You are strong Jackson but you need to work more on your fighting techniques in order to win easily" Jackson nodded.

The training goes on for hours until he felt Scarlett's presence in the training ground.He diverted his gaze from the she-wolves who are fighting to Scarlett.She walked forward ignoring the glances and few mocking giggles of she-wolfs.

Lucian was taken aback when she walked towards him not breaking eye contact.She looks different, pale but attractive in a way, her aura radiates power.Lucian shrugged it off thinking it's all mate Bond.

She stopped in front of Lucian who arched an eyebrow at her.

"I want to join the training" Lucian nodded before stopping the she-wolves who were fighting each other.

"Are you sure?" Lucian asked knowing she don't have her wolf and won't heal like them if got any severe injury.Scarlett looked at him , controlling her urge to snap the Alpha's neck.Why does everyone thinks that I'm weak just because I don't have my wolf..She thought feeling sad and angry at the same time.

"Do not worry ,I won't break any of the she-wolves bones" Lucian stared at her amusingly before hardening his expressions.

"They can heal faster but you can't , beside it you are my guest so it's my responsibility to look after you" He calmly respond.

"Do you still think I'm weak?" She asked in a whisper , feeling a sudden ache in her chest.Lucian's eyes softened , feeling the urge to pull her into a comforting hug.

"No one is weak"

"Really? Back then , you made me believe otherwise" Scarlett snorted before turning around to step into the circle.

"Choose anyone as your opponent" He announced.She smirked before turning her attention back at Lucian.

"I challenge you, Alpha" His body stiffen at her words especially the way her lips addressed him as Alpha.The crowd turned silent , shocked at Scarlett challenging the Alpha..But they all were excited to finally able to see their Alpha fighting.

But the problem is , would he be able to control the urge to mark his mate when she'll be too close to him? It's been more than 3 years since he last saw her and those 3 years were like a pure torture for him knowing his mate is far from him. Even if he controls himself, how is he going to control his wolf who is dying to be with his mate.
