Johnny gently wipes another layer of ointment over Emanuele's bruised skin. The girl shivers slightly when the boy's fingertips touch her wounds. He apologizes and tries to soften the impact of the contact, but there is not much he can do. The cuts will hurt for at least a few days before they close, and compared to the pain of the broken nose, that was nothing.
