Ungrateful

The safe house was a small, nondescript cottage tucked away in a quiet corner of the city. Inside, the atmosphere was tense. Rick is still trying to talk to Mia who insists she wants to be left alone in one of the rooms. The baby, having finally been fed and soothed, lay sleeping on a couch nearby. Carol could hear what was going on but she didn't interfere.

Rick, unable to bear the silence any longer, took a deep breath and faced Mia, his voice tentative. "Mia, we need to talk."

Mia stood from where she was seated, she made to leave the room but Rick pulled her back. He quickly cautioned himself as if Claus was still there. The few punches he received the other time have reset his brain.

"Why did you even come to save me if you are not going to talk to me?" He snapped.

Mia's eyes, filled with a mixture of anger and hurt, met Rick's gaze. "Oh really, that is what you have to say now. Incredible." She uttered in disbelief.

Apologetically, "Mia, please, we need to talk" he pleaded.
