Not Doing Well

“Are you sure about what you are telling me?” I asked, my voice shaking. The maid nodded, her eyes wide.

“I swear it's the truth, my lady,” she said. I didn't know what to think, my mind, racing with confusion and fear.

“You can go,” I said, my voice softer than I'd intended.

She hesitated, her gaze locked on mine. “My lady, please,” she said, her voice quivering. “Please don't tell anyone I told you, not even the Alpha.”

I studied her face, searching for any sign of deception. But her eyes were filled with fear, “Don’t worry, I won’t,” I said, smiling.

As soon as the door closed behind the maid, I was alone in the room, pacing back and forth. My mind was racing, trying to make sense of everything she'd told me. I had to do something, but what?

Suddenly, I felt a wave of nausea wash over me. I rushed to the bathroom, my hand covering my mouth as I bent over the sink. I gasped for breath, the room spinning around me.

The nausea slowly subsided, leaving me weak and trembling.
