I took the black box from Jake, my hands shaking as I lifted the lid. Inside was a stack of papers and photographs. I rifled through them, my eyes widening as I saw familiar names and faces. Some of the pages were letters, written in neat script.

Others were pictures, showing people I didn't recognize. And then, I saw it. A picture of Lucas, standing next to a man I had never seen before. But there was something about him that looked familiar. I felt a shiver of recognition run down my spine. Who was he? And what did he have to do with Lucas?

I looked up from the picture, my eyes wide with shock. “That's your father's best friend?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper. I had so many questions, but I didn't know where to start.

“Yes,” Jake replied, his voice shaky. “His name is-” He stopped, taking a deep breath. “His name is Alpha Charles.”

“Charles.” I hummed as I watched the picture closely. “What does Charles have to do with this?” I asked.
