I lay in Benny’s unmade bed, searching for reason in the darkness. Her scent lingered on her bed, sweet, feminine with a pinch of spice, comforting and depressing in equal measure.

She must’ve gone home and slept, then decided to leave instead. My mind was going in circles, figuring out where she was and what could be going through her mind.
