CHAPTER TWENTY NINE
Jessica’s POV
Ethan automatically put his black coat on my shoulder to cover my body.
"Really, Jessica?" He asked sarcastically.
Oh, someone's grumpy tonight.
I saw some familiar faces of his colleagues as we entered the vip room of the bar.
It was spacious.
"Miss Jessy!" Eliz approached us.
I smiled and greeted them.
Jacob was all over Cindy. I saw him blocking some of his male office mates as they tried to talk to my best friend. I laughed and turned my focus on Ethan. He was talking to a girl that I didn't recognize at all.
I stood up and walked to them.
I put my hand on Ethan's arm to get his attention.
"Hi! I'm Jessy." I faked a smile and offered my hand to the girl.
She was shorter than me but I appreciate her taste in dress.

CHAPTER THIRTY Jessica’s POV I was leaning on Ethan's shoulder inside the van. "Sir Ethan." I heard something in Simone's voice. I opened my eyes and looked around. "Are we home?" I asked. "Change of plans. We will be staying in your unit instead." Ethan answered and nodded at Simone. "Why?" I asked. "Long story. Go back to sleep." Ethan said and pulled my head to lean on his shoulder again. I was too tired to argue and ask questions to him so I closed my eyes again and comfortably leaned on hi
CHAPTER THIRTY ONE Jessica’s POV "You nailed it." Cindy said while driving. I took a deep breath and read Ethan's messages first. 'I've watched your press con. I'm so proud of you. I love you.' 'Meet me in the office? Lunch?' I covered my mouth in shock. He watched it? Oh my God! "Ethan watched it." I turned to Cindy. She has this playful grin on her face. "You told him?" I asked and hit her arm. "Ouch! I sent a video clip." She said while laughing. I was suddenly embarrassed. I replied to Ethan that we are already on the way to the office. Cindy borrowed my car so she can ran some of her personal errands again. I could feel that she's hiding something from me because I have this strange feeling. I would open the topic of her problems and she would just brush it off, saying she could handle it and it's not
CHAPTER THIRTY TWO Jessica’s POV I deactivated all of my social media accounts and I will use this time to concentrate on my taekwondo class. I'm so tired of all the drama in showbizness. If they won't believe in all of the things that I said in the presscon then be it. I don't want to stress out myself and be ugly just by reading their mean comments. I've had enough! Today's my taekwondo competition and I went to school earlier so I could practice more. Alex didn't tell me who I would fight so it's better to be ready. I changed into my uniform and tied my hair. I peeked at the gym before entering. Great, no one's in here. I told myself. I saw a pile of concrete bricks. I cried like a river the first time that my hand hit that thing. I was so afraid to injure my hand that I hesitated the force that I was using seconds before I hit the bri
CHAPTER TWENTY THREE Jessica’s POV At first I was sceptical of what the grandmaster was saying. But he was patiently answering all of my questions. "So you are saying, you guys are thieves but your victims are all rich people?" I asked in disbelief. I saw him smile while driving the car. I agreed to come with him to their hideout after the competition. I didn't win but he offered me a hobby, well that's what he called it. I'm intrigued by his offer. "We don't consider ourselves thieves. Yes, our targets are high profile people with illegal businesses. Some are human traf
CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR Jessica’s POV Cindy resigned as my assistant secretary the day I accepted Sphinx's offer to be a part of their team. I also signed an NDA so I couldn't tell anyone about them. Cindy's my best friend so I was broken hearted by her decision but I respect her. I know this time will come but I didn't think it would be sooner. "Hey, don't make me cry." She stopped packing her clothes in her case and walked to me. She held my hands. "But you are making me cry!" I couldn't hold back my tears. Seeing her leave permanently was too much. I wanted t
CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE Ethan's POV "I'm sorry, boss. We lost her. She banned us from entering the building." Simone said. I threw away the folder that I was holding. My assistant ran and picked up the papers from the floor. "Is she even wearing her necklace? The tracking device on her car is gone too!" I shouted and ended the call. I hurriedly called Jessica but her phone was dead. Fuck! She really likes it when I'm fuming mad! "B-boss E.T should I reschedule the monthly meeting? The engineers and architects are waiting in the conference room." Irina said. "Don't. I will ask Arch. Jacob to replace me. I hav
Jessica's POV I went straight to the shooting range after the meeting. I felt like I was holding a big air inside my chest that I needed to let out. I didn't imagine Cindy's childhood to be like that. She never told me anything about her past. I sighed and looked at the guns on the wall. I need to practice more. "Hey." I looked at my back and saw Phoenix walking up to me. I got the guns and handed them to her. Centaur's not around to help me this time but I need Phoenix's hard way of teaching. Somehow, I could vent my stress to her. Maybe because we are both girls. "Please teach me how to use two guns at once." I said. Her eyes fixed to mine. She accepted the guns and checked its magazine. "You have to watch me once. I need to go somewhere." She said and entered the cubicle on my left side. I put on the ear plugs, readying myself. She positioned herself so
Ethan's POV I gently touched the bruise on her left shoulder. She looked up at me and smiled. "That was from my taekwondo lesson. Stop over thinking." She laughed and stroked my hair. This girl knows me so well. "I don't need any guard following me around." She started again. Of course you do. As long as the Mendez group is at large you will never be safe without me by your side. I wanted to say out loud but controlled myself. I don't want to scare her. "Then stay with me. Live with me." I said seriously. Her mouth opened but she didn't say any words. "I'm serious. No guards as long as you stay with me. I'll be your driver, your assistant, chef? I will be whatever you want me to be. Come on, tell me." I tried to lighten up the mood. "I just need you to trust me. That's all I want from you. I'm not a child anymore. I don't need anyone's guidance." She said smiling but with tears in her eyes. I wiped away the pain from her beautiful face. "I trust you, baby. I just love you s
