Chapter 19Vanessa's POVI hurried back to my room, breathing a sigh of relief as I closed the door behind me. I quickly pulled off my shoes and threw my clothes on the floor. I ran a hand through my hair, packing it into a messy ponytail. I went inside the bathroom, turned on the tap, and poured cold water over my face and neck. I looked at myself in the mirror taking a deep breath, willing myself to relax.I came out and put on a light red gown, transparent enough to show the silhouette of my body. Chapter 20Vanessa's POV "Of course, I can manage," I said, taking Drake's hand. A smile played across my lips, despite the tension between him and Dante. "Your gown is beautiful, just like you," Drake said, making me smile, while leading me to the dance floor. He kept on teasing me while dancing. I couldn't help but laugh, I saw Dante out of the corner of my eye, his fist clenched at his side. His face was red with anger, and I wondered what had gotten into him. Chapter 21Vanessa's POV "Please, it's not what you think!" I protested, trying to pull my hand away. But he only held on tighter, pulling me towards our room with surprising force. He flung open the door to the room and shoved me inside, causing me to hit the bedside table and lose my balance. I landed on the bed with a thud, staring up at him in horror. Vanessa's POVI headed towards my new room, the guards trailing behind me. They began to arrange my things, while I stood off to the side, lost in thought. I couldn't stop thinking about my conversation with Dante, and how it had all gone so wrong. "I need to do something," I thought to myself. "Even if he doesn't like me, I can't give him any more reasons to doubt me." I made up my mind to talk to Drake and clear the air. I couldn't let this go on any longer. Just as I managed to prop myself up, there was a soft knock at the door. "Come in," I said, my voice hoarse. A young maid entered the room. Chapter 25Vanessa's POVI woke from my short nap, feeling slightly more refreshed. But my stomach rumbled, reminding me that I hadn't eaten in hours. I decided to head down to the kitchen to see what the maids were preparing for lunch. My ears perked up at the sound of my name, and I hurriedly crept closer to the kitchen door. I could hear the maids' voices clearly now, their words sharp and clear. "She's cheating on the Alpha," I heard one of the maids whisper. "Who is she cheating with?" another maid asked.
