Luca POV

THUD

The ground seemed to vibrate as the warrior was thrown to the ground, his breathing shallow as he clutched a hand to his chest.

“Again,” I roared, waiting for the next man to come at me.

All of the bigger warriors had tried, hoping that their size would be an advantage in their sparring against their alpha. They were wrong.

I had years of experience fighting against Vasilios, my best friend's brute strength being his best attribute in a physical match. But with great size, comes great weaknesses and, while Vasilios had learned to lessen the impact of his flaws, my men were less experienced in the art of hand to hand combat. In truth, apart from the odd rogue, they were untried, having never had to fight in any war. It was the same for many of the pack warriors out there nowadays, with the werewolf wars of the past long forgotten in the archives of history.

The council had put a stop to the petty skirmishes over territory. It was only alphas who were expected to fight
