17. Bennett

I woke up to a bright light shining down on my eyes making me scrunch my eyes before opening them slowly. I was laying on the soft grass in the middle of the woods. There were trees standing tall blocking most of the sunlight. In the distance, I could hear the sound of a stream with birds chirping up in the trees and small rodents and insects scurrying about in the forest floors. I slowly sat up and looked around me before following the gentle sound of a guitar being strung followed by two voices singing along to the music.

I recognized the song. It was one of my favorite songs when I was little. They used to sing it to me every night before bed and I always wondered why but never asked because I loved that song. It was called let them be little by the lone star

I could feel my eyes blur with tears the closer I got to the sound.

I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand.

Felt so good in it, no bigger than a minute.

How it amazes me, you're changing with every blink.
