Chapter 5

Elise's POV

Quiet giggling and soft, warm hands cupping my face had me quietly groaning as I opened my heavy lidded eyes. My eyes instantly locked with a familiar chocolate brown pair opened by a familiar young boy.

"Hi!" The young boy excitedly greeted taking my hand into his two," We're so happy you're alright!"

Two other small pairs of hands took hold of my other hand making me turn to the culprit.

It was the same shy young girl from last time. She looked the exact same way as the boy, probably her twin brother.

"Hello." She shyly greeted.

I opened my mouth to greet them, just for me to roughly break into a fit of coughs making me remove my hands from the two small ones and cover my mouth and close my eyes as they painfully wrecked my chest. After a few more seconds, I finally calmed down just to see a glass of cool water with a drop sliding at the side as the glass misted from its coldness nestled in between two small hands. I swear I almost drooled just at its sight as I noticed the sudden dryness in my throat. I shakily lifted my hands just to grab the glass but the pace they were shaking almost made it impossible and I feared I would break the glass.

I immediately retracted them and dug them under the warm blanket as I suddenly felt cold even as I sweated like a dog.

"Do you want me to help you?" The boy who I remembered as Everett offered with a sad smile.

I found myself embarrassingly nodding.

He encouragingly smiled at me making his chocolate brown eyes seem like melted chocolate as he gently put the glass towards my dry lips and slightly tilted it upwards so that the water would not pour at a fast speed into my mouth. The moment the first few drops touched my tongue, I withheld myself from grabbing the glass of water so I could chug it down.

It slid down my throat at a steady pace, wettening my sandpaper like throat and making it less of a dessert. The cool water running down my throat was so refreshing and I felt more grateful for water than I have ever been in my life.

The glass was about half way down when I moved my head away making Everett move the glass away before he placed it on my bedside table.

"Thank you." I hoarsely whispered hoping that he heard me.

The door suddenly opened to Noah's panicked form, making me instantly perk up in worry as I stared at his approaching form. The kids stayed quietly glued to my sides before I felt hands take each of my one on either sides of me as they stared at Noah's approaching figure.

"You two shouldn't be close to me. You might also get sick." I weakly whispered as I tried to slip my hands out of their smaller ones, notice the word 'tried'. They had strong, firm grips for kids.

"I will not be asking you to leave her side, Little ones. I promise." He softly smiled at the two kids on either side of me before he's face went blank and his eyes glazed over as if he were deep thought. He's face suddenly filled with horror before he looked at me with panic, immediately making my stomach drop.

"I'm afraid I need your help." He said with barely contained fear and panic lacing his words.

"Why?" I found myself hoarsely whispering in fear even as I tried to inch further into the headboard.

A loud rumple of thunder suddenly sounded as the sunlight lit room suddenly darkened, making us look outside the window at the fast gathering clouds. They were gathering at an unnatural speed that my mouth gaped open as fear coursed in my veins. I unknowingly pulled the two children into me, feeling the strong need to protect them, regardless of my frail body.

"What's happening?" I whispered, fear sounding through my quiet, weak tone.

"King Theo has been overly sensitive since you became unconscious two days ago. He is normally easily angered due to his lack of a mate, but these past two days with you unconscious has made him overly sensitive. He has not been eating well, nor sleeping since you went unconscious from Doctor Noel's sedative injection. He's currently meeting with the council of the werewolf world, but apparently one of them commented about him not being able to rule with a human mate, which triggered King Theo's already barely contained rage. Elise, he needs you now more than ever. Please come with me?" He practically begged.

I opened my mouth to reply just for an earth shaking thunder to strike, making the kids in my arms scream as I subconsciously pulled them into my chest to calm them down as the lights of the chandelier flickered above us.

"Please?" Begged Noah," Before he inflicts damage on not only the kingdom, but himself?"

One look at the tear stained cheeks of the children and the fear in their once excited chocolate brown orbs had me making my decision in an instant.

I encouragingly smiled at the kids before moving away from them and weakly throwing the blanket and cover off of me. I weakly throwed my strained, jelly like feet over the side of the bed, where one of the kids, Evangeline looked at me with worry. I softly smiled at her before slowly slipping on my fluffy slippers that I had gotten on my first night here.

I pushed myself up from the bed with my hands just for me to fall back onto the bed.

I spotted Noah making his way to me from the corner of my eye, but I completely ignored and attempted to stand up again. This time I managed but my knees buckled as they threatened to let my heavy weight fall onto the ground. My breathing got ragged with every passing minute. This is the strongest fever I've ever had, yet it doesn't feel like a fever. It just resembles it.

A strong hand wrapped itself around my waist, taking some of my weight away an giving my weak knees some much needed relief. Everett and Evangeline instantly rushed to my unoccupied side, making me smile down at them as another loud bang shook the ground

"Would you like me to carry you or would you like to walk on your own with just my arm as support?" Softly asked Noah

"I'll walk. I've been inactive for two whole days." I softly said, my voice coming out more stronger than it was earlier and with an unknown conviction that surprised me.

I could see Noah's small smile of pride from the corner of my eye.

"You are indeed a Luna and the Alpha is lucky to have such a woman as you as a mate. And the pack is lucky to have you. You are going to be one of the best Lunas the world has ever seen." He quietly mumbled, probably hoping I didn't hear the last part, but I caught it and I'm embarrassed to admit that it made a smile lace my lips as we slowly made our way out of the room with Everett and Evangeline stuck to my hip.

We walked at a snail's pace down the brightly lit hallways with me scanning my surroundings and the many portraits on the walls. Many of them had men women wearing ball gowns and what I presume are royal attires with crowns on their perfect hair.

The walk felt like an exercise to my tired and sore body even though Nosh carried most of my weight. By the time we made it to a noise filled hallway, my breathing was ragged and I was short breathed. My knees threatened to buckle from underneath me and if it weren't for Noah, I would have fallen a long time ago.

We stopped and stared down at the pieces of wood on the floor with pieces of gold parts of what I could guess to have been the door's handles. Noah effortlessly lifted me up above and carried me to the open doorway where the door is meant to be with the twins following close behind me. Its like they feared I would disappear if they left my hip, but I didn't mind because I wanted them at my hip for some reason. I felt comforted by their presence and I felt like they were safe when they were next to me, regardless of how weak I currently was.

What I saw in the room I most certainly wasn't ready for. There were men loitering on the ground with pieces of what I guess was a table loitering around on the floor. It was as if a bulldozer came in and wrecked the place, but that's not what took my breath away.

There in the middle of the room stood a tall, muscular, built man in a black tuxedo. His eyes instantly met mine as I looked up at him. My breath instantly got stuck in my throat and I think I lost my ability to breath and to speak.

He had short, pitch black hair that was messy like someone had run their hand through it many times today. It gave him this sexy, 'I just woke up' look. His lips a plump, pink that just called to be kissed and had my lips itching to touch his. His honey glazed orbs called to me and had me almost walking to him in a daze. His eyebrows a neat bush that had me asking me almost pouting in jealousy, matched with the perfect pair of eyelashes.

My heartbeat felt like it were on a marathon as I stared at him. My knees now felt like jelly and my breathing short and curt. My body felt good sparks all over, sparks that pulled me to him and made me want to run to him.

Like a predator hunting its prey, he slowly starting stalking towards me, our eyes not disconnecting for even a brief second. The intensity making my stomach twist with butterflies. His movements were measured and were the epitome of grace. His posture as straight as a board resembling perfection. He was perfect that my mind kept on running through the possibilities of how such a man could exist. Each step he took was dominating and called for attention, his posture spoke volumes of authority.

For a reason unknown to me, my body and heart knew before my brain who this illegally, impossibly good looking man was, which is how I found myself softly saying," Theodore."

"Mine!" He instantly growled before pouncing my way.
