He stayed there for a long time before he stepped out of the trees and walked towards me. Yet, I pretended like I didn't hear his approach.

He was as silent as Gordon. His steps were like that of a cat, and had it not been for my advanced hearing, I wouldn't have heard of his approach.

'Mate!' Chels almost went crazy when he got nearer. It seemed like she was moments from leaping out of my chest — to embrace him.

“What are you doing out here?” He stood next to me.

I peeked an eye open, gave him a once over, and pretended to be too engrossed in my thoughts to pay heed to him.

I closed my eyes once more, and placed my right palm on my face, trying not to react to his closeness.

“A human out in a forest in the afternoon? If it's not odd, tell me what is?” He sat next to me, and that forced me to open my eyes. I sat up and faced him, trying to understand what he was trying to do.
