I pried my eyes open at the familiar scent of disinfectant. As my eyes took in the white walls, a smile crept over my face. It seemed my plans worked.

'Yup, it did. We are safe and so is the baby!'

My hand immediately went to my stomach, and I exhaled. It was Chels' idea that I knock into the car, mid-change. This way she could take the brunt of the fall so it wouldn't harm our baby.

Having a clever wolf helps. It made me ashamed of the time I bad-mouthed her. Well, I shouldn't be blamed for that. It wasn't my fault. She was being a bitch then.

“Oh my, she's awake!” someone yelled from the door.

I raised my head in time to see a beautiful blonde woman running towards me. Her green eyes seemed to sparkle like rare gems.

She stopped next to my bed, still smiling. From up close, I could count the few freckles on her face.

“You are awake!” She smiled once more, looking like a baby.

I calmly nodded, trying to understand why she was acting the way she was.
