When the husband is away

Jayden slowly raised his head the moment his father left. He didn't say a word as he glared at me, with his eyes narrowed on my cheeks.

“Is there anything wrong with my cheeks?” I touched my right cheek, trying to check if there was anything on it, but felt nothing.

Instead of replying to my question, he shrugged and returned to his meal. Once more, he ignored me, pretending as if I weren't sitting in front of him.

Gordon entered a few minutes after he left, “I need to return to the office tonight.” He said urgently as he tried to button his shirt. He has changed the red polo he was putting on, in favour of a black shirt, which he's now buttoning.

“Is there anything wrong at the office? I can—”

“No, everything is fine. It's just that I forgot to sign a document, which my secretary was supposed to send tonight,” he ran his fingers through his hair, roughly combing it.
