Katie’s pov

“What do you want?” I questioned as I stood right before him. I had to lie to the others that I needed to get something upstairs. It's funny how it didn't raise any suspicion.

“It’s not what you think..” He was saying.

“What was I thinking?” I questioned and watched him run his fingers through his hair.

“Lily. She is just a friend and nothing more.” He stated, and a scoff escaped my lips.

“Friend? Three years?” I questioned, my heart aching as I tried to stabilize my shaky voice. “You must think I’m stupid, right?” I threw at him and watched his eyes dart around.

“I just…Father wanted us to bring someone over and…” He continued, his voice low and laced with what I almost mistook for sincerity.
