Helena could see through Evelyn’s thoughts and deliberately emphasized that she would not entertain Rowan in the capacity as a future mother-in-law. She would have to make sure that she was satisfied before she would formally approve of him as Evelyn’s boyfriend.

Helena went back to her room after saying this. Evelyn smiled helplessly and returned to her room as well.

Evelyn and Helen had a different opinion on a matter for the first time, but Evelyn could understand Helena’s mood, and she knew that Helena was doing this for her own good. When Evelyn returned to her room, she saw the two crumpled pieces of paper on her desk. They were the two drawings that Evelyn had thrown away earlier, which she had retrieved from the trash can.

Evelyn could not help but smile when she thought of everything that had happened tonight.
