Breaking Up

Elliot pushes his plate away from him and puts his elbows on the table, covering his face with his hands and then grunts.

"Was it that horrible? I mean, I know it was fast and I fell asleep on you but, really, was it so horrible that I made you give up sex altogether? God, I feel worse than I did before," he moans, not looking at me, "And believe me, I felt bad enough as it was."

"No, don't feel bad, I’m not lying. It's not all about you. It’s just... I just realized that having meaningless sex has never felt good. I know myself and I can't believe I just realized that I need to be intimate with someone who needs me, who loves me… someone who would literally die for me," I say with a sigh, “And I'm not saying I'll never touch a man again, I'm not a saint either. You know that."

"Me?" he asks, playing with his food. I shake my head and he tries to smile futilely, "I get it."

I don't think he gets it, in fact, he looks a little... disappointed? I don't know, I don't want to raise my hop
