We make it into the packhouse before Clara comes running to us. “Come quickly!” The fear in her eyes tells us that it is something severe. We quickly run through the house and into the backyard to find the snow splattered with blood. The roar of Lycans in their form stops me in my tracks. “Stay here.” Onyx demands of me in his Alpha tone. “You didn’t need to do that!” I scream at him as he runs off to the side of the house.

“Clara, who is it?” I call her as she cries in the yard. “It’s the new pack member and Matt. He challenged Matt for the position at your side.” She walks inside to stand with me as the noise becomes louder. “Briar, Matt is family.” She sobs as I pull her into a hug and do the same. “He will be fine; I know he can do this. Matt is a very strong Lycan and will overcome this.” I convince us. “The roar’s become louder as they round the house and approach the door. “We got to move!” I pull Clara out of the way just as
