Claire's POV

It was almost getting to two weeks since Nathaniel got imprisoned by Alex. No matter how much pity I felt for the man, I wouldn't say that Alex did the wrong thing. However, the fact that no one had gone to check on the man ever since he was thrown into the dungeon made me worried. For all I knew, Alex might have completely forgotten about him and the fact that he was left alone with dead bodies as his only companions.

"Goodness!" I muttered as I remembered the dead bodies that Alex had refused to clear away from the cells the last time we were both there to see his younger brother.

If my fear was right and the bodies were not yet disposed of, I wouldn't be so surprised if I got to the cell and saw that Nathaniel was also dead. If I was the one left in that kind of position, I knew that I was going to be dead no matter how anyone tried to convince me that it was fine. Mere thinking about the scenario was enough to make me want to puke.

"I have to go and see him," I told
