Jessica was so engrossed in admiring her mate Eric that she did not hear the sound of George's car parking outside her house.

In the past, Jessica would have ran out of the house just to see George. She would have been kissing him already and dragging him into the house especially when he gives her a surprise visit just like this.

George found her silence rather strange. He was already scared she wasn't home. That would be a waste of his journey but her door was open.
