Damien tried to free Eva from the handcuffs, by which she is being tied to the headboard. But despite his many tries, he couldn't unlock the handcuffs. Jake has the keys to unlock the handcuffs and no matter how much he tried, the metal is not budging. He tried to cut it slowly with a knife, but it turned out to be futile. He collapsed on the bed beside Eva after trying for two hours.
