I sat on my bed and stared at the wooden floor as sunlight gleamed through the open curtain. I was preoccupied with the thoughts of the missing necklace and who could have entered the room without my permission. Although I was just a guest here, this room was mine for the meantime.

While I was preoccupied with the thoughts of who could come in here whenever they liked, someone walked into the room without knocking and I raised my eyebrows as Ari walked into the room with a smile on her face.

Someone who could come in here whenever they liked? I shook my head to avoid sowing seeds of distrust in my head. I returned her smile with an even brighter one.

“So you were here,” her voice was energetic, as if she wasn’t the one with me the previous night. “I didn’t see you when I woke up.”
