Journey from Dehradun to Mumbai

I love fashion and the design process. In my dreams also I can design clothes. It is then I decided to persue fashion designing as career. Now being from a conservative family my parents wants me to do graduation and get married. But I had some other plans.

After completing my 12th I gave the NIFT entrance exam without telling my parents who were dreaming that I will take BA(honours/home science). Everyday after entrance exam seems so long.

On the other hand my mother use to tell me to try hands on cooking different varieties of food. Everyday my mom will teach me one new dish. I had to stand in the kitchen and bear that. Finally the day came and the result is out. Yipee I am in top 50 students who got selected. I was on cloud 9. I started dreaming of opening my own fashion boutique and getting models ready to wear my collection.

Suddenly someone knocked on my door. Time to come to reality. It was my mother asking me to come for dinner. "10 mins mom." I said

Now my biggest challenge is to convince my parents. I went for dinner. My father saw me and then continued eating . I sat on another chair. He told me "I have bought the form for admission into BA(Home science). Fill it and give it to me. I will submit it while going office. Also online search for the course curriculum since you always sit online and search some stupid outfits so now search some thing constructive."

I somehow gathered courage and told my dad

"Dad I don't want to do BA"

"I want to do fashion designing"

He gave an expression as if someone has asked for his heart. He got furious and started scolding me.

"Are you mad? You want to persue fashion designing. You don't respect us. What will our relatives say. Who teach you all such non sense"

I requested my Dad pleading him yo allow me to pursue my dreams "Dad please try to under stand. Its my hobby and passion and I will do really good in it."

"See in our family no one understand this fashion thing and I don't want all relatives to comment on your career choice. Just do as I say and fill the form." My dad said leaving the room

"But dad I already gave the entrance test for NIFT and have cleared it." I told a little terrified

"What? How dare you do this without our permission?"

"Forget all about this fashion designing and do BA as I say. You have to get married after that". He announced

My mom came from kitchen and she then consoled me stating that I should persue what dad say. I somehow convinced my mother and asked her to talk to my dad.

"Mom please it's matter of my life path. I never cut any of your instruction but just for once listen to me. I will promise after my completion of course I will do whatever you say."

" Beta I will try to talk to your dad and lets see." My mom consoled me

After 1 hr of if and buts she got ready and convinced my dad somehow.

"This is the last warning I am giving you. If you want to go ,go and pursue your career but after that keep in mind you have to come and get married. No arguments then." My dad said in stern voice

Yo hoo now after my parents are convinced and understood I can finally go to pursue my dream career.

I was flipping the page when again my doorbell rang

I went again and opened the door. Again no one was there. This time there was an envelope. I took it and came inside again.

I quickly opened it. It contains the a note. I opened the note. It says "If you are wondering who is she,let me tell you something...you know her already".

I was in utter shock. Who is she and how came I know her and why someone is asending me these letters?

Now I want to know everything about this girl.
