100. Mireille

We’ve been back at the Light for a few weeks now.

Awkward doesn’t begin to cover our return. Rolling up in the dead of night, scaring the wits out of everyone as the floodlights blazed and our truck was immediately surrounded by Finn, Dill, Sven, Arlen my father and a clutch of machine guns.

Of course, after realising who we were, the place flew into action. Over the next few hours, my mother fussed whilst father was quiet, clearly shocked at the frail, sad state of Skylar. We all were. Every time I looked in the rear view mirror, Cyrus and his huge size only made her look tinier, paler.

Lauren immediately instructed Rex to fire up the kitchens, prepare rooms, and bedding. But nobody questioned a thing I said or asked for. I felt like a Luna all over again, and it was unnerving.

I’m even back in my old bedroom, high above in the last standing tower. The same beige, unexciting colours, and huge, comfortable bed. My hips and back were in agony after the drive, so I was put on bed rest
