Jeanette hurriedly waved her hand. “No, he’s just a friend.”

“Didn’t look like it. Look at how he’s staring at you. You clearly mean something to him, and you’re running away like a rabbit.”

She could see Elias through the rearview mirror, still standing in his spot, not moving at all.

Christophe, who was across the road, had already walked into the distance and was nowhere to be seen.
