Chapter 2.13 | Beat of a Drum

Queseon had a smirk on his face as he gazed at his husband, who was undressing.

“What?” Qykerth asked.

Queseon shook his head and patted the space behind him, telling him to come to bed.

“I have to cultivate. We are leaving tomorrow,” he said.

Queseon nodded his head but continued patting the space behind him.

Qykerth rolled his eyes and walked over. He climbed onto the bed and hugged him from behind. He placed a kiss on his neck and asked, “What seems to bother you?”

“I miss my son,” Queseon said and let his tears fall as he looked ahead of him.

Qykerth reached his hand over and wiped his tears. Kissing him on the cheek, he said, “I wish I knew how you feel. The only feelings I know are my longing for you and the rage my father left within me.”

Queseon sniffed and turned to face him. Cupping his face, he said,
