Be mine

Sofia Russo dashed into the elevator, running late for work, she also needed to give a reasonable explanation why she didn’t show up for work yesterday, but the guards were aware. But as soon as the doors closed, she found herself face-to-face with the notorious mafia don, Luca Greco. Her heart raced as he pulled her closer, his smoldering gaze sending shivers down her spine.

Suddenly, he whispered in her ear, "Two minutes before the elevator stops. Enough time for a quickie." Sofia was taken aback, disgusted by his brazen proposition. She tried to push him away, but he was too powerful.

“Disgusting” she blurted.

"Sofia Russo," the words rolled off the tongue of the infamous mafia don, Luca Greco, as he pulled her closer, his smoldering gaze locked onto hers. "Ex-husband Tony Moretti. Has a seven-year-old daughter, Isabella." Sofia's heart raced as she realized this man knew more about her than she'd ever imagined.

"Give me a chance, sweetheart," Luca demanded, his voice silky smooth. "Let me take care of you and your princess."

Sofia was lost in the intensity of his gaze, but she knew better than to fall for a man like him. She'd been burned before and had no intention of repeating the same mistake.

"Is this the method you use to take every girl to bed?" she asked, and Luca smiled.

"How does it feel?" Luca asked, but then realized he was not supposed to love anyone. His main aim in this country was revenge and to go on a killing spree against the five families that joined forces to kill his parents and relatives.

Sophia was confused. "What?"

Then the elevator came to a halt, and Sophia walked out. She wanted to get away from this man. "To speak clearly without stammering?" he asked, and she turned to face him with a shocked look.

But she couldn't ask him how he knew about it because the elevator doors closed. Her breathing increased when she thought about her childhood moments, how her brothers and she were treated badly by their father's relatives, and she was always in shock and couldn't speak fluently.

What shocked her was the fact that Luca knew about it. This was something only her brothers and family knew about.

"Sophia," Laura walked towards her. She saw that Sophia was lost in thought and looked like she had seen a ghost.

"Why do you look so pale? Did you see a ghost?" Laura asked.

Sophia stared at her with a blank expression. "No, I saw something worse. Luca Greco."

Laura laughed hard before pausing. "Oh, wait... you're serious?"

Sophia nodded, and Laura pouted angrily. "He should've seen just a glimpse of me, then he would have fallen in love."

"This is not some mafia story where the gangster sees a silly girl like you and wants her. If Luca Greco ever wants you, then it's only for his bed," Sophia said angrily. She hated that man.

"Ouch. Anyways, Alicia is waiting for you in her office," Laura said before turning to leave. "Oh yes, I want all the gossip about what happened when you met Luca. How he breathes and stands," she added before dashing away.

"He breathes? Only humans breathe," Sophia sneered before hurrying to Alicia's office

When she got to the office, she found Alicia having a coffee. She was blonde and also in her early thirties but she looked like a teenager.

“Sophia” she called out with a frown, well…she was also rude and arrogant.

“Alicia, I am sorry I didn’t show up….”

“Hey, I didn’t ask you to speak or whatever thing you are doing” Alicia smacked her teeth as she walked to her sit. “We have been getting a lot of personal requests from clients these days” Sophia couldn’t understand what she meant.

“Last time, someone requested for you to deliver their products personally. And this time around, they requested you attend the Greco’s party on behalf of the company…I am supposed to represent the company there and not you. What the f-ck did you do?” she scolded and pushed the glass of coffee down angrily.

Sophia was confused again, why will the Greco family invite her to the party? She was not a big part of this company, so why invite her?

“I…I didn’t know about this” she stuttered trying to explain herself.

“For a moment I thought you were the only decent person in this company, but seems like you got yourself a very powerful godfather, shameless…get out of my office” Alicia scolded and Sophia didn’t think her explanation will change anything.

She didn’t get herself a godfather, this was absurd. She only wants to work and afford a comfortable living for her daughter and her so how did she get involved in attending a gangster’s party?

She left the office and hurried to the restroom, what was happening? Then she received a call from her older brother, Damon, who was a detective and also hated gangsters and mafias meanwhile her younger brother Carlo worships gangsters. What an irony.

“Hello?”

“Sophia, what's going on? How did we get invited to the Greco’s ball which was meant for families fifteen million dollars rich?” Damon asked and she had no reply, what was she going to tell him and did the Greco family invite her and her brothers?

“Now I get it,” Damon said and her heart raced.

“Luca wants to test the water, all mafias in this country hate me but he invited me to his party. This will be an opportunity for me to meet all those godfathers. It's tonight, so go home early and prepare…I will pick you up” he hung up.

Sophia didn’t want to imagine the scene where those gangsters will see a protector of the law like her brother at the party, this was all a game and the creator of this game was no other but Luca.

Meanwhile, Carlo was so happy when he discovered he and his siblings were on the list of invitees that was displayed on television.

Luca invited them to the party although he stole from him, and Luca cannot be a fan of a detective like his brother. So this only meant one thing.

“He likes my sister” he laughed hard, this was a good opportunity. Of all the godfathers in the country, his sister had to catch the big fish. He was going to be Luca Greco’s brother-in-law. Then, everyone will fear him.

In a huge mansion at the end of the city, Mr. Mondragon frowned when he saw that his family was also invited to the ball.

“Father, we got invited. Here is my chance” his youngest daughter, Jasmine said excitedly. She always thought no gangster in this country was deserving of her because her father’s wealth was more than theirs, but Luca is a god in the mafia world.

He was more than her father, thereby the perfect husband for her. “Are you stupid? This little brat just disrespected us, our name is last” her father scolded angrily, on the list their name was found below, it was the last name meanwhile he was the richest gangster.

“Maybe it was written in an order of ascending order,” she said and her dad gave her a hard glare “Or maybe not”

“Father” a voice echoed from upstairs as a man dressed in a well-designed blue suit walked down with his gaze glued to the television which displayed a picture of Luca and his sisters.

“I think he looks rather familiar,” Jerome, the heir of the Mondragon family said. “Of course, he is Luca…look at him” Jasmine was in her dreamland when she saw Luca’s picture.

He was so handsome with well-built muscles “We won't attend” her dad said bringing her back from her dream world.

Jerome couldn’t help but chuckle “What funny?” his dad asked.

“Luca Greco is holding a ball, he didn’t invite us. He gave an order for us to attend, do you want him visiting?” Jerome asked and his dad swallowed hard.

“He is a young gangster like you, so why fear him coward” he scolded his son angrily, when he was young he was feared by everyone so he expected his son to follow his path.

“Well, this means we are going right?” Jasmine asked and her brother nodded, she hurried upstairs to get her most revealing outfit.
