ELI'S POV
I groaned heavily as I started healing. He actually had gotten me really good and it took a while because this was a fatal blow on my chest area and I could hear as muscles and sinews intertwined alongside cut arteries. Was this guy seriously trying to kill me in front of Miriam?Wait, Miriam. I had heard her scream earlier but I had an inkling she was safe. No way he would harm his own wife. Perhaps, he had just threatened her and made his way away from her and she might have fainted. But as the last part of my opened chest healed, I caught on with the scent of blood. That was not wolf's blood, it was human. Quickly I rose up and turned to find her lying on the stairs in the pool of her blood. No way in the world would I let her die on me. I rushed over and held her in my arms. She was bloodied as her side was bleeding badly obviously where he had gotten her and so was the back of her head that she had landed on the ground."Miriam.... Miriam!!! Don't do this to me. Miriam!!!" I yelled as I tapped her cheeks. She was not responsive and tears welled up in my eyes. This was all my fault. I should have waited for him to step out and not bring the fight to his home.My selfishness had gotten the best of me yet again and I just might be on my way to pay the ultimate price again. In the past, I had been selfish because I wanted to spend time alone with her and eventually left her in the woods to go play the hero which cost me everything. Now again, I had just made the same mistake. How could I not learn from my mistakes? My heart was in turmoil as I gathered her up in my arms. Embracing her as I cried for her not to leave me."Eli?" She muttered and quickly I held her out to look at her. She could not even open her eyes."Miriam!!! You're fine. You'll be fine. Please stay with me." I said hastily."Eli..." She called weakly in a barely audible voice and I realized that she wanted to speak to me. I reclined closely to her and listened to her."I'm with you." I said."My kids. He went after them. Get... my... kids." She muttered weakly.Oh, it was true. But I did not really want to leave her but knowing how persistent she could be, it was best I obliged her. Careful not to leave her with a thud, I raised and carried her down the stairs and raised her into an upright position so she was reclining against the side wall. I reached for the towel and placed it against her side, putting her hand over it."You hold onto this and I will check them. Do not go anywhere. I would be back soon" I said to her as I quickly started up the stairs."I hope you will keep your promise this time." She muttered under breath. I heard that and I knew just why she said it. This time however, I would not leave her side.I had just gotten upstairs only to discover the burning flame that was emitting from the room which from the design out the door, I knew was that children's room. There were no screams but I had to assume that the kids were too scared and probably huddled together at a side. I tried to open the door with the knob but was burned really badly that I jerked up. If you must know, we werewolves and fire were not the best of friends. It was like our nemesis and we could not resist the pain it brought us.I decided that I would not back out now and stepped back as I put all my strength into kicking the door open. I would have charged inside but I realized that the flame was everywhere and really bad as it roared. There was no spot to pass into the room from and then I looked to the end of the corridor where I stood. The window there showed that outside, the house was being engulfed by fire. The crazy bastard had done it again. I know at the moment that there was no hope for the kids. They were probably long gone and I had better get us both out of this place.I rushed downstairs as I found that the entire house was indeed circled with fire and Miriam had successfully passed out. She was not even pressing her wound and had her hands to her side limply as her head bowed over. I raised her up into my arms as I made for the exit. The door from whence I had come inside (entrance) was a no go area as the porch was on fire and its knob was red from hotness. I also knew there would be people out there to witness the scene and I could not reveal myself to them.A back door. There had to be one and telling from the design of this house, it would be in the kitchen. The fire had gotten into the living room and things were beginning to cave in. In the searing heat, I dashed into the kitchen area and found that place was beginning to burn as well. The whole house was on fire but we needed to go away. There was only one way the kitchen door would open and it was inwards. I was scared of touching the knob but as the flames and a burning wood fell causing sparks to splash against me on my naked body if you remember, I found the motivation I needed.Suddenly, I grabbed hold on the knob with my free hand as the other held Miriam firmly over my shoulders and pulled with all my might as I let off a really loud scream accompanied with a growl of pain. The knob broke off instead and the door did not open. The kitchen was now on fire when I kicked the door hard, shattering it as we ran through. Someone had set the house on fire all round.I got out the back and fell as the pain was intense. Miriam fell off and for a brief moment, I laid there trying to catch my breath when I heard the sirens. Not good, this was not the place to heal and I quickly got up and managed to carry her up as I made a run for the woods behind us. It was really painful but I had to keep running.MIRIAM'S POVI felt the cool air across my face and realized that I probably was in an open space as I simultaneously opened my eyes to gaze at the hay above me. It had to be hay, made into a rough covering over what seemed like a wooden shed. I realized I had been laying on a really big rock and got up immediately. Looking down, I lifted my camisole and discovered my stomach was wrapped with a bandage like material. Where was I and who had brought me here? I wondered as I looked around.I suddenly could hear someone approaching and quickly, I ducked as I hid behind the rock and listened. The person walked and stopped right in front of the shed as he suddenly dropped something. "Miriam?" He called out to me.It was Eli and I slowly made it out of my hiding spot."Where are we?" I asked him.He smiled as he rushed over to me and grabbed me in a tight embrace. I tried to stop him because of my large bandage but it was too late as he grabbed me tightly in an embrace. Surprisingly, I did
ELI'S POVI had been sent across and the impact was both painful as it was shocking. I could not imagine any other way for her to have done that until she raised her camisole and I caught sight of her healing wound. She stared down at it and then in horror as it was moving quickly let go of her camisole. She turned to look at me helplessly as fear was lined in her eyes boldly."What is happening to me?" She asked me.I finally found my bearing and I rose up as I approached her tentatively. I had just the clear cut answer to that but it was confusing. Miriam was becoming a werewolf or rather, had already become one as she had claws and her eyes blazed yellow. We would get around as to the reason her eyes were yellow but what we needed to do now was to get her to calm down otherwise she just might lose it and we all know that fear, anxiousness and anger were werewolves triggers. I was in no shape right now to start handling a youngling. That is what we refer to our newly transitioning w
MIRIAM'S POVMy eyes were what?I could not believe what he had just said to me. I could hear the sound of rushing water from afar as I had come to discover that my senses had become heightened. Intuitively, I made a run for it as I discovered how fast I was actually. This was strange but I had my mind fixed on achieving just one goal at this point and that was for me to get away from this place and see for myself, what monster I had become. I could hear Eli right behind me as he called out to me but I was on fire.I arrived right at the place where there was a waterfall and I could not believe what I was seeing. By normal human standards, the waterfall was actually really far from where we were and should have taken an automobile to get there in time as I had but right now, it only took me a couple of minutes. I had not imagined that I would be able to hear it as clearly as I had when I had been far away but even more deafening was the sound of it now that I was up close.I stood at
ELI'S POVI had to tell her as there was actually no telling what tomorrow holds for us. As far as I could understand it, we might wake up tomorrow and discover that I was dead. Jason would probably will my death so freaking much that all werewolves sired to him would attempt to kill me and that included my dear Miriam. I sincerely hoped that our mate bond was stronger than his sire bond alongside her will for vengeance. I smiled at her reassuringly as I needed her to understand that I was going to be here for her."Miriam, you need to remain calm and understand one thing." I said to her,"What thing?" She asked me."I would never leave your side. Now, I believe you could count on your powers as a banshee to hold him off." I said to her suggesting that might actually be possible."Powers of a banshee? Eli, I only realized I had such powers by chance and I probably would not be able to tap into them right now." She said to me,"You should try. We just need to get you connected to the r
MIRIAM'S POVI have no idea why but seeing the man grabbing Eli threateningly and with a knife seemed to get me really angry. It was not the usual fear but a demand within that I rip his head off. I suddenly pictured how I was going to do it and somehow I knew it would definitely gladden my heart. I was already back counting in my head for when I would carry out the act when Eli stepped up and in a quick motion, he disarmed the really big man and pressed his arm behind his back forcing him to cry out in pain."Listen mate, we do not want any trouble." Eli whispered to him."So did I." The man in pain cried out."Then scram." Eli said as he pushed him away.I was taken aback as I stared at him. The feeling I was getting was beginning to calm down. Eli rushed over to me as he checked me."Are you alright?" He asked me, rubbing my shoulders like it was a calming therapy. I looked up at him."Eli, something is happening to me. I wanted to kill that man so badly." I said to him,He hugged
REHAB'S POVIt was really amusing to me how they had been so clumsy with themselves. I had actually been anticipating the advent of the banshee and those who were buried. Perhaps I should take a little while to introduce myself properly. My name is Rehab and most would like to refer to me as the one who was and the who who remains. I have been a witch cursed with the fate of immortality after the last banshee and her witch companion had transferred the powers of witching to me in hopes that I would wait upon the advent of the next banshee and do the same as them to the next selected witch after me. I had been living for five centuries now under different guises and names but my true name had been made known to the witches and the supernatural beings so they could seek me out. I would be placed at about five hundred years now. Too old? Come on but the perks of immortality was that I get to remain in the same way I had been when those powers shifted. I would pass for one in her late t
MIRIAM'S POVFive hundred and twenty seven years old and she looked this young, it was unbelievable.I walked inside following her tentatively with Eli right behind me as my eyes scanned the entire area. This was probably not what I had been expecting when they mentioned a witch's home. I had been expecting the usual hangings and signs of witchery as if my own home had not been as ordinary as would be back in the days. However, her home seemed pretty much as decent as any other house."Not what you expected?" She suddenly asked me like she had been reading my mind, I had not expected her to notice that I had been staring so openly.I quickly flashed her a quick smile."Nice place." I said to her but I was still looking for something that would hint me that she was a witch. There had to be something.Suddenly, a bird crackled and I saw the raven. Now my curiosity could be at bay that there was some significance of what she was. "Please sit down." She said to us pointing to the two sea
ELI'S POV"Let's get out of here." I said to Miriam.Clearly, we had been wasting our time working on what I would have called a basic knowledge. I mean, what had I been expecting from a witch as this actually. I already stood up and then stared hard at Miriam like I was about to question whether or not she would be leaving with me. Miriam took a pause and rose up."Thank you." She said to try witch.Thank her, for what exactly? For wasting our time and not providing useful aid to me? "Wait, banshee. I have something of yours that your ancestor left to you." She suddenly said,"My ancestor?" Miriam muttered."The last banshee." She said,"Wait, the last banshee was my ancestor? How is that even possible?" Miriam asked her obviously confused and I also was confused. I knew Miriam's parents and they had all her childhood pictures."You see, some secrets were better left off the ears of children out of love. Why do you think you never had any powers as a witch?" She suddenly asked and M
