Make Her Be

Mysterious was the first thought that came to Chad's mind as the line went off. He couldn't believe she had reached out only to hang up without getting any tangible word out. How mysterious could a woman be?

Chad wasn't a fan of mystery, in all honesty, he detested it. Whatever didn't come simply to him, shouldn't even come at all. But Calista Axford had brought mystery along with herself and for the first time in a very very long time, Chad was happy to indulge.

Without second guessing his decision, he tapped on the number and turned on the speakerphone. The line rang over and over till he was directed to voicemail—no response. Had he imagined the entire thing? Had she not called at all?

No! Chad quickly chided himself, shaking his head as if he wanted to clear invincible cobwebs out of the way. His phone had rang and the gallery lady's voice had come out of it. She had called him of her own accord and even though Chad had been unsuccessful in reaching her again, he felt satisfied.
