Neil’s mother was perched on a high stool in front of the large bar, a glistening bottle in her hands as she studied it with interest. Eventually, I had shown her around the house and the tour was filled with her nodding when she was occasionally impressed by something but most of the time, she left grating comments like,

How will this driveway hold a fleet of cars? It’s already looking so disgusting with just four cars in it.

And,

That pool is meant for who? Toddlers? My son could do much better.

Those were just a few of many straight-faced jabs. But the one that actually struck me was,

I’m assuming you decorated the house yourself, Leilani. No respectable interior decorator would make mistakes like this.

would also be so much better & alot more interesting if he had more parts then she does. I like his parts more then hers.

so disappointing. pretty well detailed with lielani on everything but not very detailed with the stepbrother. either he doesn't like his brothers chick or he does & the writer doesn't bother to show it
