Chapter Twenty - Walk Of Shame

Tori’s POV

Dawn was breaking when I found the courage to do what was needed. Calvin was still sleeping. Maybe I’d worn him out. I didn’t exactly creep down the stairs but realised my mistake when I saw the Delta in the small office close to the front door.

Was he here already or hadn’t he bothered to go home?

He spotted me, of course, but the words which would have followed his greeting of, “Hey, Tori,” died on his lips when he saw my expression.

Did he see bewilderment, shame and fury mingled as I had done when I paid a necessary bathroom visit and saw myself in the mirror?

“Travis,” I acknowledged.

He hesitated.

“Sometimes, the Alpha can be such a dick,” he said. “Can I call you a cab?”

The last thing I wanted was to wait around for it to arrive. The sleeping beast might awaken.

“Is this a good time to ask for a pool car?” I dared.

Amazingly, that hadn’t been a lie and he just happened to know of a spare in the underground garage. I followed him below.
