22. Doing What's Right

Melissa had looked at me questioningly when we had meandered through the forest and come to the part where I had seen Myra numerous times. It was not a conscious choice, really. I had answered her questioning gaze with a mere shrug. But now, I think I know why. Maybe it’s what they called the bond pulling and tugging the two mates until they are bound to meet. 

When Myra barrelled at me and I found myself on my back, I didn’t think of throwing her off me. I felt...protective and...pleased. I had almost forgotten that my sister, who had no clue about my mate’s existence, was also present. We exchanged a silent conversation after I divulged the secret and I knew she would keep this to herself.

After the initial rendezvous, I realised that my mate was acting so cosied up because she was in heat.
