Off the bat

Draw the ring off, Ray felt his dark soul return again, with no sun to burn him it felt good not to sneak around under the bright light like some human anymore.

The chase was already on and Ray couldn't wait to see what happens. He leapt onto a church roof then scaled its tower, ending up balancing on that iron rooster with one foot, sure vampires can't enter a church, nothing was said about getting on top one.
