29. The Mark

Athena’s POV

The subtle smell of salad cream and the soft texture of the sheets caused me to open my eyes. I sat up and scanned the place. It was a familiar environment. The same room we had our first intimate night—my first ever. I found Dante sitting on a sofa chair beside my bed, with a pensive look.

He rushed towards me immediately I sat up and offered me a cup of water that was on the nightstand.

“How do you feel?” he asked as he sat beside me with a worried look.

“Weak,” I answered truthfully, after emptying the glass of water down my throat.

“Thank you for helping me out there,” I continued as he fluffed the pillow for me to recline.

“Thank you for helping me find you. I was worried sick, Athena. I’ll get you something to eat,” he remarked as he prepared to stand. I held back his palm on the bed,
