76. Alpha's Contender

Athena's POV

They all gathered around me, wanting to here how and where I found Cosmo. I walked into the cabin, along with the same woman who helped breast feed her in my absence. I uttered no words to anyone, including Kevin.

"Under no circumstance should she ever leave your sight," I ordered and went back outside.

"Gather around, Every single one," I sent a message to the general mindlink. Waiting at the forest clearing. I marveled at the growing pack as they converged in troops.

Drooping heads, agile spirits. That was all they knew best to do. If they were competent, Cosmo would have never left my sight. I would never have set my eyes on Dante. I would have lived with the version of him I chose to believe. Now, it was all ruined. Too late to go back in time. He was the beast. He was everything I never imagined. The worst. And there was no going back this time. My tiny hope of us getting back together had been dashed against a rock.

But to make that work, I had to prepare my pack.
