Falling Forward

    I know it might sound strange, I still am and have always been a little afraid of the dark. Actually no, that’s not quite accurate. Terrified would be the appropriate word. Terrified of the dark. I know all little kids fear the dark a little bit at some point, but the terror I feel go beyond the regular childhood fears of monsters under the bed or in the closet. I don’t fear being in the dark. I have an honest fear of the darkness itself. When I stare out into a complete deep shadow, it doesn’t feel empty, it feels overwhelmingly full.

     And I know that when I look at the dark, the dark is looking back.
