Chapter Fourteen - A Little Surprise

Emily arrived at the company earlier than usual that morning. When the gateman saw her approaching, he opened the gate and greeted her respectfully with a warm smile.

“Good morning Madam, you look good today.” “Thank you Martins,” she replied and acted normal, making it difficult for him to observe her sudden excitement.

She found her way to the office and climbed up the flight of stairs since the elevator was out of order. When she reached the last floor where her boss' office was located, she looked around other offices to be sure nobody came before her. Rather tensed, she took out a pair of thick gloves and a tub of petroleum jelly from her handbag and smeared it on the lens of the cameras in the varenda. When she walked towards her boss' office, she broke out in a sweat as she knocked repeatedly on his door just to be sure he wasn't sleeping in his inner room.
