JANICE’S POV
I left Alpha Ryan at the foot of the stairs that lead up to the “living quarters” of the children as well as for Freda’s and my bedrooms. I had requested that the alpha allow me to continue the tour either later today or maybe tomorrow. I used my age as my excuse, telling him I was really feeling it in my bones. I fully expected him to force me to accompany him for the rest of the “tour” of the house. I never dreamed that he would be so cooperative and allow me to beg off. But honestly, with the exception of the “enchanted door” that led to Ana’s old room, there was nothing to see up there but b
RYAN’S POVAs soon as the smoke cleared and we all realized that Janice had disappeared without a trace, I could feel my wolf, Hunter, trying to claw his way to the forefront. I was beyond pissed. I was furious. I yelled out, using my bull Alpha Voice to “FIND HER!”. Ophelia tried to calm me by hugging me from behind, wrapping her tiny arms around my waist. Ophelia was always good for a calming embrace. It usually worked, like she has some kind of mellowing magic, but I was incensed beyond what a simple hug was going to calm. I simply could not believe that not only was Janice gone, but that we had no inclination that she was in cahoots with witches. It was the only explanation as to why she had a potion in her possession that enabled her to vanish into thin air.“Did anyone here have any knowledge that Janice had ties to witches?” I asked, my voice still booming in the Alpha octave, ra
EMILY’S POVI’m sitting in my office with Ana after we left Georgia at the training field, talking about nothing in particular when Ryan, Chris and Ophelia walked in, each carrying a box full of computers and computer hardware. “What the hell is all that?” I asked, pointing at the boxes. “It’s for the bake sale tomorrow,” Ryan answered sarcastically, “What the hell does it look like, genius?” he asked as he set his box down beside the door. I glared at him and asked with just as much sarcasm dripping from each of next words, “I meant, where did they come from and why are they being brought to my office?”Before Ryan could huff out another crap-ass answer, Chris stepped in, “Em, these are the computers from the orphanage, all of them. It’s been an extremely lon
ANA’S POVAfter the bombs that first Ophelia quickly followed by Cale dropped on me this morning, I had to excuse myself from the group. I needed time alone to process everything that I had experienced over the last ten days. I left Emily’s office and headed back to my hotel room. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if my stuff would still be there. Scarlett had only paid for about two weeks when she got the room for us. The days just melted into each other and I was having a hard time keeping track. Before I even realized it, I was standing under the awning of the hotel at the entrance. Before going in, I fished my room key card out of my purse. Taking a deep breath, I pushed through the revolving door into the lush lobby. It was very tastefully decorated with a hint of class that wasn’t over the top, but pleasingly comfortable.
SCARLETT’S POVUgghh, that little human of mine! Sometimes she was so extremely annoying while others she was just clueless. I was trying to tell about her first shift because although wolves didn’t typically get any kind of head’s up to prepare them for their first shift from human to wolf, she was a different situation, completely.Yes, I was well aware that she had called out to me not long before her body succumbed to the sheer exhaustion she felt and fell asleep, peacefully. I sat in the back of Ana’s mind and tried to collect my own self. Suddenly, I felt a familiar pull. My soul stirred with elation before I actually heard the loving melody that I associated with Selene. We were on our way to the Dreamscape again. This was my first home before I became Ana’s wolf. It was no longer freely open to me so whenever an occasion arose to commune with Selene, I
ANA’S POVI woke up with a start. Looking towards the window, I could see daylight, so I knew that I still had time. Although I’ve only been to the Dreamscape twice, I already knew I loved the place. The absolute peace that I could feel all the way into my bones, my soul, was enough to make me yearn for more uninterrupted, quality time there. But then my logical (and killjoy) mind intercedes and reminds me that for a wolf to have the opportunity to meet with Selene even once in a lifetime was a painfully rare occurrence, but to be invited for a return visit, well that was unheard of. It only existed in dreams.I reached for my phone to text Emily. It was almost 6 p.m. and as my stomach began to growl, I realized that I had not eaten all day. I decided to see if Em had eaten yet and if not, invite her to meet me at the café a couple of blocks from the packhouse around 7.
ANA’S POVWe left the steak house, our tummies full of what was one of the best meals I remember having in years and headed straight for the pack house. I had been offered to stay at the pack house when I was with Emily earlier that morning. We started heading up the stairs towards her room when I was surprised by Emily reverting my course away from her room to the next door over. “You won’t need to share my bed anymore, you have your own,” she said quietly. She asked me to close my eyes before she opened the door and walked me in, holding my shoulders, guiding me. Once we were completely in the room, she allowed me to open my eyes. I had to blink several times partly because of complete shock of what I was seeing, but also to keep the tears that were stinging the sides of my eyes from releasing all over my face. “Oh, my Goddess, Em! Is this all for me?”
A/N: I want to apologize to all of you loyal and supportive readers of my story. I have been sick over the past 2 months and everytime I thought I was begining to recover, I would relapse and be right back in the bed. Starting today I will be updating every day, at least one chapter per day. Thank you all for your patience and support... enjoy the upcoming chapters, and dont forget to comment and let me know what you think.RYAN’S POV“Mate,” I whispered as I smelled her scent for the first time: Honeysuckle and Spring rain. As I leaned in and put my forehead flush with hers, I heard the question in her small voice, “Mate?” This made my wolf whimper. I leaned back far enough to search her glistening blue orbs for signs of rejection. “It makes so much sense now,” I began talk to her, “the feelings of comfort, protectivenes
EMILY’S POVI frantically mind-linked everyone I could think of that could help Ana. I had never seen any being, supernatural or not, contort their bodies in the uneven, unnatural angles I watched Ana’s body molded into. I was sure that this had to do with that witch that had helped Janice torture Ana her entire life. The first person I linked was Ryan. Whatever magic that was assaulting Ana, something told me that Ryan’s presence would help in relieving her some. Even if it was only a small percentage, at least it might help her to be able to take a full breath without such intense pain shorting her lungs of the much-needed oxygen.I knew that Ryan was racing like the wind to us. I then linked Beta Chris, Gamma Ophelia and Dr Gail in a “group chat” type link, giving them each instruction to meet us Ryan, Ana and me at our current location. After they all respo
