Chapter 104

“You are just as bad as I am.” I joked with him as he followed his parents out of our bedroom and to the cars. The funerals weren’t that far away, but with Justina and I being as pregnant as we were, driving would be easier.

No one spoke the whole way. Instead, we looked out at the window. The car was driving incredibly slow, to make sure we didn’t hit anyone. Our pack lined the streets as each member slowly made their way to the burial site. The field that we were using was a special one. It is saved for only those who have died during battle and deserve the highest respect.

As we got out, the wind had a cold bite to it. It felt good against my hot flashes I was experiencing. We made our way to the front. We lined chairs up front as the dead were laid on wooden slabs that were inches above the ground. A shallow grave was dug, allowing their bodies to become one with the earth, making a full circle.
