Continuing to crouch out of sight like a child playing a game of hide and seek, I find my body unable to move while my curiosity continues to grow intensely. The building intrigue holds me frozen to my spot like a statue, rooted to the ground while remaining out of sight as I listen to the unravelling conversation which wasn’t intended for my ears.
“Have any of the members from the Opal Pack tried reaching out to you, yet?” Dakota asks, her voice tainted with worry.
“Honestly, I don’t know. My phone has been switched off all night. I didn’t want anyone bothering me when I was at the hospital with Willow…” I hear Elijah trail off distracted.
After a few seconds of painful silence, a playful melody kicks in from downstairs followed by an avalanche of frantic beeping and buzzing. The eruption of chaotic noise circu
“Will you calm yourself down, young lady! You look ridiculous!” Vincent growls exasperated at his flailing daughter. His foot start’s to tap impatiently on the pavement as he leans on his cane witnessing her lash out despite his angered plea.Aubrey continues to cause a scene, not at all concerned with his warning remaining caught up in the moment. Desperate kicks and punches are thrown at the amused boys as they easily escape her clumsy attempts of causing harm, laughing mockingly at the feeble attack, blocking her from getting too close to either Elijah or myself.“-I didn’t bring you along with me for you to go and make a fool out of me!” Vincent sneers at his daughter, authority riddled in his tone causing her to stop dead in her tracks. A defeated pout paints her face, reluctantly obeying her father’s stern orders and gradually coming to
All of my senses remain partially heightened; my body trembles violently while the adrenaline slowly begins to wither, subsiding deep within my veins as I try to collect myself. As my rage slowly disappears I take some satisfaction in watching Aubrey being dragged away unwillingly by Isaac and Mato despite her furious protests. An annoyed Vincent follows behind them swiftly, his head lowered with shame trying to avoid the eyes of curious workers gathering in the corridor who are wondering what all the commotion was about. He curses through clenched teeth at his daughter, scorning her for interrupting his meeting and ruining any salvation of a new deal. His composure completely lost, visibly agitated and seething with embarrassment as they’re escorted out like criminals being taken away.Aubrey remains stubborn, refusing to walk as she allows her feet to drag behind her in a comical fashion. Her high-pitched voice echoes in the buildin
By the time we reach the apartment my head feels forcibly weighed down as if it is being buried alive under the eruption of unravelling thoughts. I feel lost for words; speechless, unable to break free from my racing train of thought despite the burst of conversation flowing around me while we all settle into the warm living room after a long, chaotic day.I’m unsure of how to feel while the uncomfortable heavy beating of my heart continues to thump rapidly under my ribs making my stomach churn as I process the details of today’s unnerving events. Was it really him? Is my mind playing tricks on me?“Well, that went well,” Dakota jokes, taking off her coat. “Maybe we shouldn’t go out anymore?” she teases.“It could have been worse…” Mato snorts as he crashes onto the sofa with his sister trailing behind, “-it went better than
An ominous dark cloud hangs above my head as I begin to gasp at the air greedily, allowing the pain of my past to disappear alongside each heavy breath I take, desperate for release. My eyes flicker around manically; paranoid and suspicious as I take in my surroundings desperately, frantically scanning the room for any hidden dangers or potential threats that may be lurking out of sight. My body tenses as I replay the unexplainable dream in my head; my chest tightening as I recall Sam and Sean’s menacing threats, contemplating the danger that may be heading my way if this dream holds any truth. A flood of salty tears catch in the corner of my burning eyes while I try to figure out the biggest mystery of it all. If this is real and not just a figure of my subconsciousness’s imagination, why me? What could they possibly want me for?My mind races, struggling to absorb even the smallest of details of what I
“I don’t understand how any of this is happening,” I groan in complaint to my wolf, my body flopping onto the bed with little effort feeling slightly overwhelmed. I roll over to face the ceiling; gazing numbly as I place my hand on my forehead, soothing the gentle throbbing in an attempt of easing the creeping pain beginning to breakthrough. Truthfully, I have no idea. At this point, your guess is as good as mine.“I swear it was your voice! It sounded just like you,” I mutter confused; my mind fogging with doubt as I try to decipher whether there was any truth behind what I had encountered in my dream, questioning my memory as I ask one last time, “-are you sure it wasn’t you?” Willow, I promise it wasn’t me! How
Our attention is quickly snatched away without any warning, our discreet conversation disrupted and instantly forgotten about when the kitchen doors swing wide open. A loud creak accompanies the motion which breaks the hushed, still air and startles us in response. My body jolts as we watch Dakota emerge from the other room; my heart thudding quickly in my chest as we find ourselves momentarily caught off guard, unsure to whether prying ears may have overheard Raven’s secret plans. As we scramble to regain a collected composure Dakota stops in her tracks, placing her hand on her hip and carefully surveying us both with a hint of curiosity riddled within her bright green eyes.“What did I miss?” Dakota asks suspiciously as she approaches us slowly with a raised eyebrow. She walks cautiously, trying to figure out what is going on before diverting her sole focus onto Raven.“Nothing much. I was
As the evening rolls into the night, an unsettling silence consumes the once lively room; an unspoken fear growing inside of us like a parasite attacking away at its unknowing host, unmercifully consuming our once flowing positivity that was only recently harboured. We say goodnight mournfully and retire to our quiet bedrooms; every one of us dreading what the next day may bring if the Trinity Council’s suspicions are right, all as equally worried as the other while we question what our future may hold if this threat is deemed to be true.Despite my best efforts of trying to fall asleep, I find myself restless, my stomach in knots while my thoughts wander making it close to impossible to try and settle down. I toss and turn repeatedly into the early hours of the morning, fighting with myself in an internal battle as I desperately urge my body to give in to the growing tire.As I lay in discomfort I can&r
My excitement is no longer containable by the time we reach the sickly green painted hospital; every fibre inside of me begins to buzz as I feel deliriously happy, giddy even while I allow the positive surge to mute all of my recent turbulent worries, making them appear mundane almost as I lose sense of any calmness I may have recently possessed. Unable to sit still any longer my leg begins to shake impatiently while I wait for Mato to park the blacked-out SUV as he slowly drives around the carpark looking for a free space amongst the rows of endless vehicles. As we near the front of the daunting hospital a car begins to reverse out in front of us, luckily freeing up a space and causing us to stop as Mato waits to take their once occupied spot causing my anxiety to soar. Without a second thought, I unbuckle my seatbelt and quickly rush out of the stagnant
