MIA'S POV

"Davon!"

Davon heard me and announced that he was going home. His parents are expecting him to go home early, he reasoned. He didn't wait for Mom to stop him and headed to the door. When Mom followed him, he was gone. Leaving the door open.

"That's strange," Mom said, scratching her head. It was nerve-wracking. I thought Davon would disappear in their front. My heart skipped beating out of fright.

"You're friend is gone. He must have run fast." Mom went back to the table to finish her food.

"Yeah, he runs fast. He's an athlete."

"I think I like him, Mia," Oliver stood and put his plate in the sink, "You should say yes. Davon is strong. He can protect you."

Mom laughed, listening to him. Oliver started to the stairs and looked back at us.

"Don't make me repeat it. It would be best if you had a boyfriend. You are not getting any younger. I bet all your classmates have one." Oliver added and ran to his room.

“Ah? Mom!” I finked on her.
