Chapter 41

I awoke the next morning to an empty bed.

It was late.

I had no doubt that Adam had left hours earlier for his first meetings of the day. I rolled over and the sheet slipped off my bare shoulders. I shivered at the cold breeze.

I sat up, holding the covers to my chest, and looked at the clock. A note sat there, leaning against it. I reached out from the sheer curtain and grabbed it.

'Meet me for lunch.'

I read the clock and my eyes widened. I only had ten minutes to get ready. I shot out of the bed, tripping over the tangled sheets.

I went into the bathroom and began to brush my teeth. I gasped in horror seeing the love bites all over my stomach. I quickly checked my neck and sighed, thankful Adam hadn't left anymore in any noticeable places.

My mind immediately flashed back to the night before.

My promise was still intact, but it came close to breaking that night.

After a few minutes of heated kisses and wandering hands and mouths, we both decided to stop. It wasn't an easy decision
