Chapter 4

KATE ROSE

"We will go to a birthday party this coming Saturday," Auntie Rosa announced at me.

"Birthday party this coming Saturday?" I confirmed.

"Yes, it's a birthday party. Do you have something to do this coming Saturday? If you don't have something to do, we should go there together. Do you want to come with me, huh?" Auntie Rosa asked me. I thought for a while before answering Auntie Rosa, "Who has a birthday this coming Saturday, Auntie Rosa?" I asked her.

"It's Mrs. Romero's birthday this coming Saturday. Mrs. Romero is my co-worker and one of my friends. She invited me to attend her birthday party this coming Saturday," Auntie Rosa told me. I immediately nodded after she explained. "Ah, okay." I nodded.

"So, you're coming with me this coming Saturday for Mrs. Romero's birthday party?" She asked me again. I have nothing to do this coming Saturday. I'm not going anywhere either, so I just agreed with my Auntie Rosa that I would go with her to the birthday party of her co-worker Mrs. Romero.

"Yes. I will go with you, Auntie Rosa," I said, smiling.

"Okay. Thank you, Kate Rose!''

"You are always welcome, auntie."

Tomorrow is Saturday. I'm not so excited to attend the birthday party of Mrs. Romero. I don't know what dress I should wear. While we're eating lunch in the cafeteria one of my friends speaks, "Are you free tomorrow?" Anna asked.

"Why?" Eliza answered.

Anna took a deep breath before answering her question.

"I just wanted to watch a movie at the cinema and have some fun this weekend. Tomorrow is Saturday and it's okay to have some fun. We don't have a class, right? You wanna join me tomorrow?" Anna asked us.

Eliza and I stared each other. I was about to speak when my friend Eliza spoke.

"Of course, yes. I'm free tomorrow. How about you, Kate Rose?" Eliza said, she asked me to.

"No, I'm not free tomorrow," I said.

"Why aren't you free for tomorrow? It's the weekend, right?" Anna inquired.

"Yeah, I know. My Auntie Rosa and I will go to a birthday party tomorrow. So, I couldn't be with you if you might go," I said to my friends.

"It's okay. If we're not complete tomorrow, we will not go there anymore just to have some fun. Maybe we can go next time if we're complete. Much better if Chloe is with us, right?" Anna said.

"Yes, that's true. It's better if our friend Chloe is with us," I agreed with them.

"I'm sure that she will go back to school next week," Eliza said.

"We're hoping..." We both nodded.

My Auntie Rosa gave me a new dress for tomorrow's birthday party. I didn't expect that she will buy me a new dress.

"Why did you buy me a new dress, auntie?" I asked her after I saw the dress which she bought for me.

"Don't you like it, huh? Isn't pretty? Do you want another new dress?" Auntie Rosa asked me.

"No! No! I liked it, auntie. I'm only asking why did you buy me a new dress? It's just a birthday party and I think I don't need to wear a new dress," I protested even if I don't know what dress I should wear tomorrow. She smiled at me.

"Kate Rose, there will be no problem if I bought you a new dress. It's really okay. I bought mine, so I can't control myself not to buy a new dress for you. I don't want to have a new clothes or dress to wear while you're wearing your old dress. I just wanted to have both of us a new dress to wear for tomorrow's birthday party. Is that okay with you?" My Auntie Rosa explained.

There's nothing I can do, but to obey what my Auntie Rosa wanted for me to have for tomorrow. She's very excited and I understand her. Mrs. Romero is one of her friends, so she needs to be prepared.

"Thank you so much for this, auntie. I love this dress you bought for me. It's pretty," I said to my auntie and she laughs.

"Yeah, I know. It's pretty just like you," she said, laughing. She's joking and we both laughed.

We left two hours before the start of Mrs. Romero's birthday party. I felt nervous, I don't know why. When we arrived at the venue of the birthday party of Mrs. Romero, my heart beats so fast. I have no idea why my heart beats so fast. Maybe it's my first time to attend the birthday party of my auntie's friend and all people aren't familiar with me. Many visitors were already there. Some of them are staring at me while my Auntie Rosa was talking to them one by one. My Auntie Rosa introduced me to some of them as her niece. We're almost twenty minutes, but I can't see who is Mrs. Romero. My eyes got bigger when I saw the man who broke my friend's heart. I thought I wouldn't see him tonight. I remembered those days when my friend Chloe told us about what happened to her.

"Why are you here?!" I asked him furiously when he went near our table. My Auntie Rosa is on the other table, she's talking to her other friends. He was frowning.

"Oh, shit! It's you again?!" I rolled my eyes.

"Yes! I won't forget your fucking face!" I snarled.

"Me too! Your fucking face is a curse to my existence! I could be the one who can ask that question to you, and not you! You don't have the right to ask me that way!" He said, sarcastically.

"And why? Is this your place, huh? Did you buy this place just to say that? How dare you to say that in front of me! Answer me! I won't forget everything about you! You're stupid! You're rude! You're play—" I didn't finish what I want to say in front of him when he spoke to me.

"Don't say that silly woman! I'm not as stupid as you and I'm not even rude! If you can't say anything good tonight, you better keep your mouth shut or leave this place! You're not invited here. I have no idea why you are here! We don't know you! You're not part of this birthday party for my mom! Get out of our sight now!"

"Why would I do that? Don't you know that I was invited here. You can't force me to leave this place! And also you can't keep my mouth shut! You should leave this place now and not me!" I said, furiously.

"What did you say? You're invited here? Come on, silly woman! We don't know you, so it's impossible for you to be invited such a stupid and poor girl like you! Do you think we're crazy, huh? Of course not! Weren't!" He said, insulting me.

"I'm not a silly woman!" I corrected him. "Who are you to say that? Please leave me now! Get out of my sight!" I shouted in front of him. Some visitors were staring us. They're murmuring to each other.

He was about to speak with me when my Auntie Rosa came. She's with someone.

"Hey! What's wrong with the two of you?" Auntie Rosa asked us. I didn't answer her question. She smiled at him.

"Nothing. We're just talking. There's nothing wrong with us and we are not even fighting," Dark Louiz replied to my auntie. I frowned and I can't even understand what's really happening tonight. I didn't expect this to happen. I blamed myself for being here tonight. It's a horrible curse for being here.

"Ah, okay. I thought you were fighting. Your mom and dad are looking for you, and you're just here talking to my niece. It's nice to see the two of you talking," Auntie Rosa said. She chuckled.

I can't believe what I've heard from my Auntie Rosa. Based on her words, she had known this man in front of me for so long. Auntie Rosa looked at me and she started to open her mouth to speak. She was with someone who probably talked to Dark Louiz.

"Have you two known each other for a long time?" Auntie Rosa asked me. I rolled my eyes.

"No, auntie. It's just now," I lied to my Auntie Rosa.

"Really?"

"Yes." Dark Louiz glared at me.

"Ah, okay. Dark Louiz is the son of my friend Mrs. Elvira Romero, who is celebrating her birthday tonight. I'll introduce his parents to you, Kate Rose, especially her mom," auntie said. I nodded.

My Auntie Rosa introduced me to the two parents of him immediately. They had also introduced me to their son, Dark Louiz. I gave him a fake smile and he did the same to me.

"Happy birthday, Mrs. Romero!" I greeted his mom. I never thought she would be the mother of the man I hated. Mrs. Romero is a pretty woman and have a good personality. She's so pleased.

"Thank you so much, Kate Rose! I'm so glad, I finally met you. You're so pretty," she said. We both exchanged a smile.

"You're welcome, Mrs. Romero. I'm so happy to be here for your birthday party," I said. She's very kind.

"Thank you and I hope you enjoy!" I smiled at her.

Mrs. Romero talked to her son Dark Louiz to join me first while my auntie is busy with them enjoying the birthday party. He refused to her mom because he was with a woman. It's a good idea that he refused, I also don't want us to be together tonight.

"You can accompany her tonight. She's alone and no one to talk to. Don't you want, huh?" Mrs. Romero asked for her son. Dark Louiz grimaced.

"I'm fine even if I was alone here in our table. You don't have to worry, Mrs. Romero," I said, refusing her.

"Are you sure?"

I nodded. "Yes, Mrs. Romero. Thank you."

"Did you hear that mom? It's okay for her to sit here alone. I have someone to entertain tonight," Dark Louiz said.

His mom nodded immediately. I was left alone in our table. I decided to go to the restroom alone after a few minutes. When I returned back to our table where I was sitting alone with no one to talk to, I saw him again. He was staring at me so bad.

"What?! Why are you staring at me like that, huh?" I asked him. He gasped.

"Is there anything wrong looking at you?"

"Yes!" I growled.

"Why is that?"

"Do I still have to ask you?" I sneered.

"I don't know what you're talking about! Get out of here! I don't want to see your face anymore. I'm sick of you one hundred percent!"

"I'm sick of you too! You don't have the right to say that! You have no right to kick me out of this place! Are you stupid?" I answered him, shouting.

"It's my mom's birthday party tonight, so as her son, I have the right to kick you out of here anytime and now I'm kicking you out of here! Get out of my sight! You're not welcome here!"

"You have to say that to yourself and not to me. And even if this place is yours, I won't leave this place just to follow your greediness! You are greedy! I'll only leave once my auntie tells me to go home. Your parents are very kind and respectful, but I don't know why you are like that. Your behavior is like an animal! Who is that girl with you, huh? Are you going to hurt her feelings and break her heart, huh?" I scowled.

"It's not even your business to know who is with me tonight. You're out of it. Your behavior is like an animal and not me! I'm decent."

"W-what? You're decent in your case? Are you sure, huh? Do you hear what you're saying in front of me?!" I growled.

"Of course, yes. Unlike you, silly woman. Get out of my sight now!" He groaned.

"Again, you should say it to yourself, not to me. You're ruining my whole night!" I couldn't wait for him to speak, so I turned my back and left him. We would have a long fight if no one stopped. I ignored him and mind my own business alone.
