The air in the room crackled with tension as Russo paced back and forth, his gaze avoiding mine. His phone buzzed intermittently, each message adding another layer of secrecy to the heavy silence that hung between us. I'd had enough of being sidelined and kept in the dark about the dangers that seemed to be closing in on us.
