Chapter 23

Max turns, grabbing both sides of my face.

"Are you okay?" he whispers, his wild eyes looking into mine with an unrecognizable longing in them.

I nod, grabbing onto his hands, the warmth of them pulling me into him.

"Yes, my cab is coming and taking me home," I inform him, my eyes fluttering.

He glances up deep in thought, before looking me in the eyes.

"No, you're coming home with me," he demands, rather than asks.

"What? No, I can go home. I'm fine," I insist, I can't go home with him. I'm drunk and finding him irresistible tonight.

So many rules will be broken.

"You're not okay, and I'm not letting you get in a car with a stranger in this condition. You will either come willingly or not, your choice," he replies arrogantly.

I glower at him; my stomach protesting that last sour daiquiri.

I turn, walking away from him and lose my balance. Just as I'm about to face plant Max swoops in and grabs me by the waist. Relief floods my system, as I didn't just break my
