Thankfully, the apartment was completely empty. Cody had mentioned he'd probably return in the early morning from his job as a companion, while Nia stayed at the hospital to finish her project in peace.

"What would you like to drink?" I stammered like an idiot, rushing to slip away into the kitchen to calm myself.

"Nothing, really," he replied, standing behind me, closely watching every move I made in the fridge.

"O-okay," I sighed, closing the door with my trembling hands.

"Why are you so nervous?" he asked, chuckling softly while wrapping his arms around me, drawing me closer to his body.

"I won't do anything you don't ask for, I promised," he added.

"I'm not going to ask for anything, idiot!"

"Sure?"

"Of course!" I lied hastily.

"Doesn't seem like 'nothing' is what you were thinking when you invited me to your house."

"Stop playing the mind reader," I grumbled, freeing myself from his grip with the idea of sitting on the living room sofa and doing absolutely nothing to further unse
