Chapter Forty- Three

NORA POV

My feet take me across the grass, the picnic table within view. My heart is in my lungs, my hands gripping each other in a twisted vise grip. Not a single sound can be heard, even the birds are silent. The park is devoid of the creatures that give it life, like they can sense the danger about to invade their space.

Even Viola remains hidden deep within my mind, unusually quiet. I thought she would be more present at a time like this. Where the hell is she?

Taking a large breath, I climb on top of the picnic table, sitting on the top like Xander instructed. Easier to escape if I need to. Goddess, what the hell was I thinking? Agreeing to this mess. I don’t trust Dillon, especially with a feral wolf behind the wheel.

Breaking twigs and the rustle of leaves pulls my attention to the right, a figure in walking through the field. Seeing him again makes my palms sweating uncontrollably and the hair on my arms stick straight up. The way he prowls towards me, like a predator trapping
