Fine Men Don't Frown

''Oh you're such a fine man." She sang his praise with an expression that told him that this girl was trying to seduce him.

Darien's response to that was a grimace. His brows dragged together in surprise. Since he became a man, no one has ever called him fine to his face and this girl was doing just so.

Just when he thought he had gotten enough surprises, she did something else that didn't just surprise, but froze him. She caressed his face. Darien's body went rigid at the feel of her hand on taut muscles.

''Oh no! no, no, no!'' Zee exclaimed. ''Don't do that, don't frown." She murmured,

''Fine men don't frown." She said with a smile, rubbing Darien's brows gently. When they returned to the way they had been earlier, she smiled at him.

''There you go, beautiful." She murmured with an intoxicated voice, and one of her brightest smiles that soon faded, giving way to a series of hick-hocks.

Darien's eyes turned to one of questioning as he watched her closely. The hick-hock intensified, her eyes were flickering open and close, she continued that way and it resulted in deepening Darien's glare at her. There was a blank expression on his face, but his brows were knotted together. He was going to ask her something, when she suddenly threw up in his face.

Darien's countenance went still. For a couple of minutes, he stood frozen in place, not moving, like a statue imbued to the ground, his unblinking eyes fixated on the frail being in his arms. He was supposed to get mad, he was supposed to get furious immediately and certainly call security on her. That was likely for him to do, but he didn't do any of that. And there too, the expression on his face had changed, definitely, but it wasn't one of anger, nor was his aura emitting danger. Instead, his countenance had gone calm, revealing no emotions at all. And he still held her the same way.

''Oh my gosh!

''Holy shit''

The background exclamations brought back Darien out of the other realm. He looked around and found that all eyes were on him and then he remembered where he was. He looked at the girl in his arms and wondered what to do with her. But before he could do the only thing that came to his mind, some females came running towards them.

Mia and Irene, who had been standing stuck to their positions all the while the drama happened, ran towards the duo on seeing what their friend had done. They feared the worst, not just for Zee, but for them too.

Darien's face jerked up to the two young blondes running towards him. For a quick second, his heart squeaked because he thought they were from the paparazzi. But when they started speaking, he calmed down a little.

''So so sorry." Mia apologized, holding Zee by the wrist. An attempt to take the girl from the man, but he held her so possessively by himself, an act that made Mia and Irene panic. He glared at the little, crazy beauty in his arms, and then his eyes drifted to the two ladies again.

''Is she yours?'' he asked with a bit of a frown.

''Yes, she's our friend." Irene stuttered. She was struggling to remain calm, and not burst out with either the fear of what their crazy friend had done, or the excitement of speaking with the country's most prominent man.

''You see, it's actually her first time tasting alcohol, that's why she's reacting." Mia explained, and Darien's frown deepened even more as he observed the girl in his arms. She was so intoxicated and trying hard to remain awake. He now understood what had sponsored her audacity and he smirked inwardly before releasing her to the girls who claimed to be her friends and, just like that, he turned around and began to walk away from the crowd, to everyone's surprise. But, halfway up the stairs, he stopped because he heard someone say....

''He isn't going to do anything to her?''

Darien turned but didn't search for whoever the speaker was. Instead, he searched for the frail being being carried out of the hall by her friends and then he turned and walked away.

On the sixth floor, Darien claimed his workspace. He twirled the armchair, the whole of him was still rigid like a bag of ice had placed on him. In the next second, he dialed a number on the telephone and in the next few minutes, a man in a black tuxedo and a pair of dark shades was standing in front of him.

"Find out if that drama earlier was to get a headline for the paparazzi or just a mere coincidence.'' He dished out his instructions, wearing that same expression as he backed the man.
