Chapter 6

Rose's POV

I woke up with a pounding headache and a dry mouth that felt like the Sahara desert. It felt like someone was jackhammering inside my skull. Slowly, I opened my eyes and tried to focus on my surroundings.

I was in the same hotel room as the previous night. The curtains were drawn, but I could see the sunlight trying to peek through the edges. The room was a mess. Empty bottles of beer and whiskey were scattered on the floor.

”What happened?" I asked no one until I felt a strong arm draped over my waist and I looked down and saw myself naked, under the sheets. "Fuck," I cursed in a low voice, making sure not to wake the hot and sexy man beside me.

I tried to sit up, but the room spun around me. I groaned and fell back onto the pillow.

The pain in between my legs made it evident that we had sex and at that moment, all I wanted to do was die.

"What happened last night?" I asked Eve but got no reply.

My mind was foggy, and my memories were hazy. I tried to piece together the events of the previous night. I remembered going out for a run and then, I went from one border to another. Then to this bar for a night of drinking and dancing, then to a hotel with hottie after the fight with the unknown werewolves and I lost count of how many shots I had after I showered but I didn't remember anything like the sex I had with him, my first sex.

"EVE!!!" I growled. "What on earth did you do?” I asked her in anger but she whimpered and hid, avoiding any conversations with me.

My whole life flashed in front of me. I am to get mated on my birthday in a few weeks, to give my virginity, body, and soul, to my mate and husband but here I am, deflowered by the man I met in the club, miles away from home.

I felt my life break into uncountable pieces. A phone call disturbed my thoughts and broke the silence and I immediately grabbed it and muted it, making sure not to wake the mini-god who took my virginity.

"Hey, it's me, Sienna," the voice on the other end said.

"Hey, what's up?" I replied, trying to sound casual.

"I've been trying to get a hold of you all morning. Are you okay?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I asked, my heart starting to race.

"After you left last night, I went home and told your parents you were with me and now they are calling for you back at home. Where are you?" She asked worriedly.

"Should I come to pick you up?" She asked again.

"Uhhh, I spent the night in a hotel close to a bar. But I'll be back soon." I said and hung up, my heart beat racing.

I quickly got out of bed, grabbed my clothes from the floor, and slipped them on without taking a shower. I felt disgusting and ashamed, and all I wanted to do was get out of there. As I headed towards the door, I stumbled and almost fell. My legs felt like jello, and I had to steady myself against the wall but I was pulled into the chest of the man on the bed.

"Wait, why are you leaving? Is everything okay?" He asked his voice groggy and unbelievably sexy.

I hesitated, unsure of what to say. I didn't want him to get into the details of what had happened the night before, but I also didn't want to leave him hanging. "I just have some things I need to take care of," I said finally, avoiding his gaze.

He pulled me closer, concern etched on his face. "Is it because of me? Did I do something wrong?" he asked, his breath lingering on my skin and I noticed my body reacting to his touch. He moaned and chuckled after sensing my arousal but he didn't tease me about it and I was glad he didn't and then he released me.

I stood back and arranged my clothes, annoyance evident on my face.

He sat up and looked at me, confusion etched on his face. "Wait, why are you leaving? Did I do something wrong?" He asked again and I was tired of hearing him ask the same question.

I took a deep breath, my anger building. I couldn't believe he was acting as if nothing had happened.

"No, you didn't do anything wrong," I said, my voice low and threatening. "But if you tell anyone about what happened last night, I will make sure you and your whole family regret it."

He looked taken aback by my sudden change in demeanor, he had surprise and shock written all over him but I didn't care. I needed to protect myself, my family, and my reputation.

"I mean it," I continued. "If I hear that you've been spreading rumors or you told anyone about meeting me or whatever happened between us last night, I will make sure everyone knows exactly what kind of manipulative person you are," I said loudly.

He seemed to understand the seriousness of my warning and nodded quickly. "Okay, I won't say anything. I promise."

I grabbed my things and made my way to the door, not looking back. I felt a wave of relief wash over me. I had taken control of the situation and made sure that my one-night stand would never come back to haunt me.

I finally made it to the door and grabbed the handle. I took a deep breath and opened it slowly, peering out into the hallway. It was empty, and I let out a sigh of relief. I slipped out of the room, closing the door quietly behind me.

As I made my way down the hallway, although I sorted him out, my mind was racing. How could I have been so stupid? I didn't even know this guy's name.

"Hottie?" I scoffed as I asked myself in a confused state. "What a name to give the guy who took your first time,” I murmured to myself and made my way to the stairs.

As I rushed down the stairs, I accidentally bumped into a man who was walking up the stairs, his eyes glued to his phone. I stumbled and almost fell, but he caught me just in time. My heart was racing as I looked up at him, taking in his features. He was tall, with broad shoulders and a kind smile.

"I'm so sorry," I blurted out, feeling embarrassed with my head low and face flushed.

"He smells and has the aura of a Beta." Eve quickly said and closed the connection not wanting to further the conversation to avoid my questions.

"It's okay," he said, his voice calm and reassuring. "Are you alright?" he asked calmly.

I nodded, still feeling flustered. "Yes, thank you," I said and then I dashed down the stairs without waiting for a second longer.

I rushed towards the front desk and the lady looked up at me and asked if everything was alright.

"Ma'am, are you alright? Do you need more ointment for your injuries?” she asked and I quickly remembered that we were attacked a few hours ago.

I shook my head, unable to form words. After a few moments, I managed to explain my situation.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just need to leave urgently. The injuries are now healed, thank you." I answered and paid her handsomely.

She looked delighted and she was kind enough to call a cab for me. As I sat in the back of the taxi, I couldn't help but feel like I had hit rock bottom. I had never felt so lost and alone in my entire life. First Brandon got his mate which was not me, and now I lost my virginity to a man who's not my mate.

I groaned and tugged my hair in frustration as I thought of my already scattered life the driver looked at me through the mirror with a concerned look but I quickly dismissed him and reassured him that I was fine.

I looked like a mad woman and I was a long way from home.

As we crossed the border, I looked back and noticed a black car following us. The car had been at our back since we left the hotel and I thought it was just heading in our direction so I wasn't concerned.

I tried to ignore the black car and focus on my problems, but the driver's concerned look made me realize that something was definitely wrong.

"Is there something behind us?" I asked the driver.

He looked into the rearview mirror and his expression turned serious. "Yes, there's a car following us. Do you know who it is?"

I shook my head. "No, I don't know anyone here. What do we do?"

The driver's eyes flicked back and forth between the road and the mirror. "We need to lose them. Hold on tight."

The driver swerved the car around a corner, narrowly missing a pedestrian. I held on to the door handle, my heart racing. The black car was still behind us, and I could feel the driver's tension.

"Is there anywhere we can go to lose them?" I asked, my voice shaking. Then we heard a gunshot.

I bowed my head in fear of getting shot while the attacker kept aiming at the windows, car tires, and driver but luckily the driver turned away and missed the bullet.

"We need to lose them now!!!" I ordered and the driver stepped on the accelerator, speeding on the street. We got to a crossroad and the driver thought for a moment before taking another sharp turn down a side street.

My heartbeat increased as the black car neared us, "Is this how I'm going to die?"
